Side Lockers Externally accessible storage space is standard in Land Rover emergency or service vehicles. And for good reasons. Firstly, unused hollow spaces within the body offer additional stowage and secondly, items that shouldn’t be stored inside the car due to access, hygiene or health reasons can be kept separately. Especially when the vehicle has been modified into a camper van or the load space has to be kept clean for humans and animals, it is a good idea to keep certain items in exterior storage. This includes oily tools, wet and dirty clothes or smelly and chemically hazardous items like jerry can spout, funnels or fuel-soaked rags. Camping fans particularly like to store gas cookers, cartridges and cooking accessories in the side locker. Using the lid as a table, your morning coffee tastes best besides your vehicle. We have completely overhauled the side locker and managed to improve some of the key features significantly. So, if you haven’t cut a hole in the rear left of your Defender yet (or had it done for you*), it’s now time to do so. And if you already have our old side locker installed, you can easily upgrade to the new version. Dimensions and mounting holes are fully compatible so that the upgrade can be installed in no time. What’s new? The box is now welded all around and the construction has been designed to meet the requirements of IP67. This has greatly improved the stainless steel locker’s robustness and waterproofing. We also added a new compression key lock with IP66 certification. The lock’s clamp can be adjusted so that the lid will stay permanently tight and rattle-free. The lid’s hinges are mounted at the bottom and it is held at a 90° angle by small chains on either side, forming a small tray or table. The side locker is custom-made for Defender 110s. The five door station wagon will take the storage box behind the rear left wheel arch, the three door hard top alternatively offers installation in front of the wheel arch. Alternatively, this middle position in the hard top Landy can also take our bigger locker with even more stowage space. The new side storage locker can also be installed in all other camper vans and expedition vehicles which offer suitable space in the body. Because they are E-marked they can be fitted without TUV registering them. They work with the standard Defender indicator relay as well as with the adjustable indicator relay of our LED position light set - so you needn't buy or change the indicator relay! There are many aluminium roof boxes on the market - ranging from expensive, heavy and cheap quality. This aluminium box has an excellent quality/price ratio. It's also water- and dust-proof according to the IP54-Norm. The aluminium alloy of the box offers good protection against salt water and other environmental toxicants. The material strength is 1.0 mm. waterproof / dustproof according to IP54 standard Delivery without FLIXPLUS lashings! Please note that there is one important consideration about aluminum. As always, we make sure our products are stored, handled and shipped with the utmost care. Aluminum boxes, however, can always show minimal scratches, dull spots, blemishes, small dents or other superficial marks on delivery. These are solely due to the specific properties of the material. On contact with atmospheric oxygen, aluminum develops a natural, anti-corrosion patina. Three times lighter than steel, it is also considerably softer, making it the perfect material for metal sheets, especially when weight and durability are important. The flip side of these properties, though, means that aluminum can never be entirely free of scratches, blemishes etc. This is why these surface marks do not constitute grounds for customer complaints. Der Defender hat eine Seele, sagen viele. Vielleicht stimmt das, denn manchmal hat man wirklich diesen Eindruck. Er bringt einen überall hin, auch dorthin, wo andere längst aufgeben. Dafür braucht er Zuwendung, Werkzeug und Geduld. Er ruckelt, macht Geräusche und nimmt es mit Perfektion nicht so genau. Aber wer ihn kennt, weiß: genau das ist sein Charme. Es gibt kaum etwas Schöneres, als an diesem Stück britischer Ingenieurskunst selbst zu schrauben oder, wenn's mit dem Schrauben hapert, wenigstens mit Fachwissen zu glänzen.

Wer einen Defender in ein Reisefahrzeug umbauen möchte, der braucht mehr als gute Laune und einen vollen Tank. Eine Seilwindenstoßstange, nicht, weil man sich selbst festgefahren hätte, nein, natürlich nur, um die anderen rauszuziehen. Wir empfehlen unsere Nakatanenga Seilwinden-Stoßstange für den Defender wahlweise im Bundle mit Seilwinden von Horntools oder Superwinch, optional mit oder ohne Fernscheinwerfer.
Aber es gibt auch Momente, da hilft kein Gebet, nur eine gute Bergung. Mit Bergeösen, Hecktraversen-Verstärkungen und Bergeboards bleibt man auch dann souverän, wenn der Boden meint, ein Abenteuer draus machen zu müssen. Alles robust, erprobt und bereit für den Ernstfall.
Wer längere Strecken abseits der Zivilisation plant, rüstet am besten gleich mit einem Zusatztank in 56 Liter oder 66 Liter auf, während der Defender-Unterfahrschutz dafür sorgt, dass spitze Steine, Wurzeln oder neugierige Felsen keine bleibenden Erinnerungen hinterlassen. Der Schnorchel für den Defender bzw. die erhöhte Luftansaugung ist natürlich Pflicht für alle, die in die Wüste wollen oder durchs Wasser müssen, wobei auch Hamburger Pfützen manchmal verdächtig tief aussehen können. Gibt es für Td4, Td5 und Tdi in verschiedenen Ausführungen für Defender mit oder ohne Überrollkäfig.
Defender-Fahrwerk, Felgen und Reifen
Kein Abenteuer ohne ordentliches Fahrwerk. Ein Defender-Fahrwerk ist keine reine Geschmacksfrage, sondern hängt davon ab, wofür der Wagen eingesetzt wird. Egal ob 90er, 110er oder 130er: Es gibt Fahrwerke für jeden Zweck, vom Familien-Daily-Driver bis zum voll beladenen Fernreisemobil. Für den richtigen Offroad-Look gesellen sich dazu beispielsweise Stahlfelgen wie unsere klassische ANR-Felge, die Wolf-Felge oder ebenso robuste Dotz Dakar.

Innenleben mit Charakter - Sportsitze für den Defender
Wer Kilometer frisst, sollte bequem sitzen. Mit neuen Sitz-Polsterungen lässt sich der alte Charme der Defender-Sitze bewahren, Sportsitze für den Defender bringen modernen Halt ins Abenteuer, und passende Sitzbezüge schonen das Material oder verstecken die Spuren vergangener Expeditionen. Richtig klassisch wird es dann mit den passenden Lenkrädern für den Defender.
Und dann gibt's da noch das Defender-Zubehör, von dem man sich fragt, warum Land Rover das nicht einfach schon von Werk aus eingebaut hat. Türgriffe aus Leder, ein Handschuhfach, ein Haltegriff an der A-Säule, damit der Einstieg selbst nicht jedes Mal wie eine kleine Expedition wirkt.
Sitzschienenverlängerungen, weil britische Ingenieure offenbar keine langen Beine kannten. Eine zweifarbige Innenraumleuchte, ein Ablagefach hinter der Cubbybox und natürlich der Hecktürdämpfer, der verhindert, dass einem die Tür ins Kreuz fällt, wenn der Wagen schräg steht.
Doppelbatterie-System, Elektrik und Licht - Strom, wo er gebraucht wird
Egal, ob Standheizung, Laptop, Kühlbox oder Handy: Auf Reisen braucht man Strom. Deshalb ist eine der ersten Umbauten, die ein Defender bekommt, oft ein Doppelbatterie-System. Unser Doppelbatterie-System für den Defender mit Edelstahlhalterung bietet Platz für zwei Banner 80Ah-Batterien, beinhaltet den Kabelsatz und ein Trennrelais auf Wunsch gibt es einen Batterie-Monitor dazu. Perfekt dazu passt das Solarpanel auf der Motorhaube passend für Td5 und Td4.
Im Bereich Beleuchtung reicht das Spektrum 7-Zoll-Scheinwerfern, LED-Signalleuchten bis zu Lightbars von Osram und Vision-X, dazu gibt es sogar noch einen passenden Lampenbügel.
