Glow plug connector Land Rover Defender If the diesel has difficulty getting going when starting from cold, and if it nails and smokes particularly badly, this is often due to the glow plugs. Before replacing the plugs, however, you should first check the condition of the cables and plugs. Often, the problem is simply that cables and plugs are exposed through porous plastic sheathing and the electrical contacts are suffering. As a rule, the service life of the plugs far exceeds that of the cable and plug connections, because cables and plugs and their insulation are naturally much more exposed to mechanical and weather-related influences. With our glow plug connector repair kits, Defender with Td5 and Td4 2.4l engines can be very easily retrofitted in case of problems with cables or connectors. This is also recommended if the glow plug set is being replaced anyway. The advantage of the repair kit is that the next time a problem occurs, it is not necessary to replace the entire wiring harness at great expense; instead, it is sufficient to replace the plug and cable up to the crimp connection. It’s reasonably large and practical, but after a while nobody really knows what’s hidden in its depths. But finally, there’s an end to all the rummaging and searching around. Mud Stuff are now presenting their Cubby Box Tray, a simple but efficient tray insert with two compartments. The Cubby Box Tray will fit any original Land Rover Cubby Box by simply inserting it right below the lid. The tray is held in place on the rim of the cubby box by an 8 mm lip. A dedicated recess for your hand makes it just as easy to remove it again. The insert separates the Cubby Box into two practical tiers: the tray on top holds important everyday items, everything else goes below. The tray’s two individual compartments measure 200 x 105 mm and their depth of 55 mm ensures sufficient space for all essentials like smartphone, keys, wallet, parking tokens, defrosting spray or chocolate bars. Soft touch layers on the bottom of the compartments make sure that nothing gets scratched. The Cubby Box Tray’s dimensions and recesses are designed for Land Rover originals. If you have installed an aftermarket box, you can refer to the dimensions in the pictures to make sure it will fit your third-party solution. Whether you’re going for a more muscular look or just better off-road performance, there are many good reasons to widen your Defender’s stance. You can go for fat MT tires or you can widen the track with wheel spacers or negative offset rims to achieve the desired effect. But keep in mind that your wheel covers may no longer be sufficient for your country’s road regulations and that in turn could affect your 4x4’s road legality. Apart from costly surprises in traffic stops, you also want to avoid potentially dangerous water and mud spray or debris being catapulted from exposed wheels. And then there’s also that slightly unbalanced look… At Nakatanenga, we thought there’s got to be a better solution than what’s out there and that’s why we teamed up with the experts at TREKFINDER to give you a functional, easily attached and exclusive solution to extend your existing original wheel arch guards. The result is a discrete self-adhesive rubber extension strip that widens the original Land Rover wheel arch guard by another 20 mm, simply by sticking it onto the original part. There’s no need to remove the original parts, drill new screw holes etc. The new guard’s protruding adhesive lip fits perfectly onto the original part and makes it very easy to position the 1.5 m extension perfectly. This should also work with identical after-market parts by Britpart et al, but with non-original parts we are unable to provide a warranty, of course. With a little experience and some planning, though, you can easily adjust the strips’ required length or their radius with a boxcutter and some sanding paper. Again, alterations are not covered by our product warranties. And last but not least, since our wheel arch extensions are self-adhesive, they are just as easily removed as they are mounted. Der Defender hat eine Seele, sagen viele. Vielleicht stimmt das, denn manchmal hat man wirklich diesen Eindruck. Er bringt einen überall hin, auch dorthin, wo andere längst aufgeben. Dafür braucht er Zuwendung, Werkzeug und Geduld. Er ruckelt, macht Geräusche und nimmt es mit Perfektion nicht so genau. Aber wer ihn kennt, weiß: genau das ist sein Charme. Es gibt kaum etwas Schöneres, als an diesem Stück britischer Ingenieurskunst selbst zu schrauben oder, wenn's mit dem Schrauben hapert, wenigstens mit Fachwissen zu glänzen.

Von Stoßstange bis Schnorchel - das richtige Defender Zubehör für unterwegs
Wer einen Defender in ein Reisefahrzeug umbauen möchte, der braucht mehr als gute Laune und einen vollen Tank. Eine Seilwindenstoßstange, nicht, weil man sich selbst festgefahren hätte, nein, natürlich nur, um die anderen rauszuziehen. Wir empfehlen unsere Nakatanenga Seilwinden-Stoßstange für den Defender wahlweise im Bundle mit Seilwinden von Horntools oder Superwinch, optional mit oder ohne Fernscheinwerfer.
Aber es gibt auch Momente, da hilft kein Gebet, nur eine gute Bergung. Mit Bergeösen, Hecktraversen-Verstärkungen und Bergeboards bleibt man auch dann souverän, wenn der Boden meint, ein Abenteuer draus machen zu müssen. Alles robust, erprobt und bereit für den Ernstfall.
Wer längere Strecken abseits der Zivilisation plant, rüstet am besten gleich mit einem Zusatztank in 56 Liter oder 66 Liter auf, während der Defender-Unterfahrschutz dafür sorgt, dass spitze Steine, Wurzeln oder neugierige Felsen keine bleibenden Erinnerungen hinterlassen. Der Schnorchel für den Defender bzw. die erhöhte Luftansaugung ist natürlich Pflicht für alle, die in die Wüste wollen oder durchs Wasser müssen, wobei auch Hamburger Pfützen manchmal verdächtig tief aussehen können. Gibt es für Td4, Td5 und Tdi in verschiedenen Ausführungen für Defender mit oder ohne Überrollkäfig.
Defender-Fahrwerk, Felgen und Reifen
Kein Abenteuer ohne ordentliches Fahrwerk. Ein Defender-Fahrwerk ist keine reine Geschmacksfrage, sondern hängt davon ab, wofür der Wagen eingesetzt wird. Egal ob 90er, 110er oder 130er: Es gibt Fahrwerke für jeden Zweck, vom Familien-Daily-Driver bis zum voll beladenen Fernreisemobil. Und dann gibt's da noch das Defender-Zubehör, von dem man sich fragt, warum Land Rover das nicht einfach schon von Werk aus eingebaut hat. Türgriffe aus Leder, ein Handschuhfach, ein Haltegriff an der A-Säule, damit der Einstieg selbst nicht jedes Mal wie eine kleine Expedition wirkt.
Sitzschienenverlängerungen, weil britische Ingenieure offenbar keine langen Beine kannten. Eine zweifarbige Innenraumleuchte, ein Ablagefach hinter der Cubbybox und natürlich der Hecktürdämpfer, der verhindert, dass einem die Tür ins Kreuz fällt, wenn der Wagen schräg steht.
Doppelbatterie-System, Elektrik und Licht - Strom, wo er gebraucht wird
Egal, ob Standheizung, Laptop, Kühlbox oder Handy: Auf Reisen braucht man Strom. Deshalb ist eine der ersten Umbauten, die ein Defender bekommt, oft ein Doppelbatterie-System. Unser Doppelbatterie-System für den Defender mit Edelstahlhalterung bietet Platz für zwei Banner 80Ah-Batterien, beinhaltet den Kabelsatz und ein Trennrelais auf Wunsch gibt es einen Batterie-Monitor dazu. Perfekt dazu passt das Solarpanel auf der Motorhaube passend für Td5 und Td4.
Im Bereich Beleuchtung reicht das Spektrum 7-Zoll-Scheinwerfern, LED-Signalleuchten bis zu Lightbars von Osram und Vision-X, dazu gibt es sogar noch einen passenden Lampenbügel.
