Description
Defender Brake Caliper Bundle with Stainless Steel Pistons – High-Quality Components for Long-Lasting Repairs for the Defender 90 from the MY 1994 (rear)
Matching brake calipers, high-quality stainless steel pistons and everything in one package.
Corroded or seized brake pistons are a familiar problem on Land Rover Defenders, particularly on vehicles regularly used off-road, during winter or on salt-treated roads. Our brake caliper bundle provides a practical, carefully considered solution for repairing the braking system.
The bundle combines brake calipers of original equipment quality with our specially manufactured stainless steel brake pistons. We have selected the matching components for each vehicle version, saving you the trouble of sourcing and ordering all the required parts individually.
High-Quality Stainless Steel Pistons Instead of Conventional Steel Pistons
Not all stainless steel is created equal. We have our brake pistons manufactured to our specifications by a specialised European precision engineering company. We deliberately use high-quality, particularly hard stainless steel combined with a carefully engineered surface finish.
Many inexpensive stainless steel brake pistons are made from comparatively soft material. Our pistons, by contrast, feature significantly greater material hardness. This makes them more resistant to mechanical damage and ensures a robust surface even after years of demanding use.
Functionally Optimised Surface Instead of a Mirror Polish
The surface of our stainless steel brake pistons is carefully machined and deliberately not polished to a mirror finish.
There is a technical reason for this: When the brakes are applied, the piston moves outwards, slightly deforming the sealing ring inside the brake caliper. When brake pressure is released, the elastic recovery of the sealing ring helps retract the piston.
The interaction between the piston surface and the seal is crucial. A suitable surface texture contributes to controlled friction characteristics and therefore to reliable piston retraction.
Our surface treatment is therefore not a cosmetic compromise, but an integral part of the technical design.
Corrosion Resistant and Designed for Long-Term Use
Corroded brake pistons are a familiar problem, particularly on Defenders used off-road, during winter or on salt-treated roads. Rust on the piston surface can damage the seals and cause the pistons to become stiff or seize.
Our stainless steel pistons offer a significant advantage over conventional steel pistons. Their high corrosion resistance reduces the risk of corrosion-related damage and provides a solid foundation for reliable, long-term brake caliper operation.
The Bundle: All the Matching Components in One Package
Anyone wishing to equip their Defender brake calipers with high-quality stainless steel pistons needs the correct calipers and matching pistons. To save you the trouble of sourcing and ordering each component individually, we have put together a carefully matched bundle containing the required parts.
The package combines brake calipers of original equipment quality with our specially manufactured stainless steel brake pistons. All components are supplied separately and unassembled, ready for professional installation as part of the repair.
This saves you the time and effort of sourcing individual parts and provides the matching components conveniently in a single order.

LOF Series IIA & III 11" front brake drum kit from LOF Brakes.LOF wants to make everything better, and let's face it, the stock brake drums currently on the market are terrible, so they set out to make the best! Description: Series IIA & III, 11" front brake kit (4 cylinder to 83) from LOF Brakes.2 important things have been corrected in the kit:Drum runout accuracy - LOF has managed to produce the 11" drums to a maximum tolerance of 40 microns runout and 50 microns out of roundness, which is tighter than any other brake drum manufacturer. The shape and precision of the brake shoes are matched to the drums and the brake compound is designed to prevent squeaking and juddering! All vehicle owners will know what is meant! They have also fitted the brake shoes with a solid, correctly shaped rivet to hold the spring in place. You will know that cheaper brands have a straight cut rivet that tends to fall out! Notes on Defender brake parts:all brake pads offered for the Defender have an R90 designation and are therefore registration free.Brake discs are also registration-free, as only vehicles homologated from 2016 onwards require brake discs with an R90 designation. Stop Safely, Drive Confidently: EBC Ultimax Brake Pads for Your Land Rover Defender Rear Axle Your brakes are one of the most important safety systems on your Land Rover Defender. Whether you're navigating dense city traffic, winding country roads, or challenging off-road terrain, you need to be able to rely on dependable and powerful braking performance at all times. When it's time for new brake pads on your rear axle, the EBC Ultimax brake pads, available from us at the Nakatanenga Offroad Shop, offer a first-class solution. Why EBC Ultimax for Your Defender? EBC Brakes is a globally renowned manufacturer of high-performance braking components. The Ultimax series (often known as "Blackstuff") was developed as a high-quality replacement for your original pads and surpasses them in many aspects, without compromising on comfort and everyday usability. The Advantages of EBC Ultimax Brake Pads for Your Rear Axle: Reliable Braking Performance: EBC Ultimax pads provide you with consistent and dependable braking performance under a wide variety of conditions. They ensure a safe feeling and shorten braking distances compared to worn or inferior pads. OEM Quality and Better: These pads are tested and approved according to the strict European ECE R90 standard. This means they meet at least the standards of your original pads and often exceed them in terms of fade resistance and lifespan. Reduced Noise: Thanks to special anti-squeal technologies and precise manufacturing, EBC Ultimax pads operate pleasantly quietly and minimize annoying brake noise. Lower Dust Emission: Compared to many standard brake pads, Ultimax pads produce less brake dust. This helps keep your wheels cleaner for longer and reduces the need for frequent cleaning. Durability and Wear Resistance: The special compound of EBC Ultimax is designed for a long service life and even wear, saving you money in the long run. "Brake-In" Coating: A special black surface coating on the pads helps them bed in faster and ensures an optimal friction pairing with your brake discs right from the start. Perfect Fit: EBC Ultimax brake pads are precision-engineered to ensure a trouble-free installation on your Land Rover Defender. When Should You Change Your Brake Pads? Look out for signs such as reduced braking effectiveness, loud noises (squealing, grinding) when braking, or an illuminated brake wear indicator (if equipped). Regular visual inspection of the pad thickness is also recommended. Notes: The brake pads have an E-mark approval and are therefore approved for road use. IMPORTANT: Please check before ordering whether you need Type A or Type B (see image 2). Scope of delivery: 1 set of brake pads (for the rear axle, i.e., four pads) Your Plus in Safety and Comfort with Nakatanenga At Nakatanenga, we know how important reliable and high-quality components are for your Land Rover Defender, especially when it comes to safety. Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit with Stainless Steel Brake Pistons for Land Rover Defender 90 / 110 / 130 Longevity for your brake system Brake calliper service kit for Land Rover Defender 90 / 110 / 130, consisting of stainless steel brake pistons and matching sealing kits. While there is only one possible configuration for the Defender front axle, two different sizes of brake pistons have been fitted to rear axles. To avoid additional delivery costs we like to ask you to measure the pistons on the rear axle - they should be either 41.2 mm (small) or 46.0 mm (large). As these pistons are made from stainless steel they won't rust and thus also won't damage the seals. You need 8 pistons and two sets of seals for the front axle and 4 pistons (either small or large) and one set of seals for the rear axle. To further protect the brake callipers from the elements and corrosion, we offer these kits optionally with black brake caliper paint. Please choose the desired brake calliper service kit.
