Today’s average drivers would probably shake their heads in disapproval, but Landy enthusiasts will cherish the excentricity and immediately set their minds to fixing the design’s obvious short-comings with a little Defender hack. For a long time, we had been able to offer one of those nifty little fixes under the product name Defendoor, made by a Czech company.Sadly, both the company and their fabulous product are no longer in existence, but since we still register a lot of demand for fueling cavity covers, we got together with Defender specialists TREKFINDER and breathed new life into the idea.The cover is as simple as it is effective when it comes to keeping out water, snow, ice, salt, spray, mud and dust. It will also add to the rugged good looks of your Defender. Made from sturdy but slightly flexible high-quality synthetics, it is kept in position by a groove running around the sides. There is no need for screws or rivets or moving parts to hold it securely in place. When fueling, simply press the cover in and remove it from the fueling cavity. The material is UV- and temperature-resistant, guaranteeing long product life and long-lasting quality. Repair panel rear sump for Defender 110 Td4, Td5 and Tdi Rust thrives best when it is hidden, especially when corners, angles or edges favour the constant accumulation of water and damp dirt. This is why Defender 110 Station Wagons often have hidden rust spots under the rear seat bench mount or on the frame holder. To avoid having to replace the entire base plate of the rear tub in the event of advanced contact corrosion, we now offer an exclusive, easy-to-fit repair kit for the particularly susceptible area under the seat bench. The kit consists of the main plate, two side parts and sufficient rivets. For installation (see pictures), the existing welding points on the rear tub are first drilled out. The sheet metal is then simply positioned accordingly, glued in place with body sealant and fixed at the sides with clamps. Once dry, drill the sheet metal at the pre-drilled welding points and insert the rivets. The two side panels are then attached in the same way. Die Türbereiche sind beim Defender bekannte Rostherde und trotzdem kann der Korrosionskrebs dort oft lange und unerkannt vor sich hin wuchern. Gerade an den Türen gibt es viele verdeckte Winkel, Ecken und Flächen, die dauerhaft Wasser und feuchtem Schmutz ausgesetzt sind. Schraubverbindungen, Nieten, Schweißpunkte und das Aufeinandertreffen verschiedener Materialien wie Stahl, Alu, Gummi sowie die mechanische Beanspruchung machen das Problem in diesem Bereich nicht kleiner.
Wer größere Restaurationsarbeiten vorhat, sollte sich deswegen überlegen ob es nicht günstiger, schneller und vor allem auch viel gründlicher wäre, den kompletten Türrahmen aus B- und C-Säule sowie dem Türschweller auszutauschen. Wir bieten jeweils den kompletten Satz für die rechte oder linke Seite, passend für alle Modelle, bei denen die Türdichtung nur eingesetzt und nicht angenietet ist.
