Even when 4x4s generally wear their scars with pride, most signs of heavy usage aren’t necessary, they’re frustrating and also depreciate the value of your vehicle. One of the first areas to show signs of wear and tear – especially with off-road vehicles – is usually the cargo area. But if your 4x4 is a New Defender, would you really want to see a worn and scratched rear bumper? Immediate and long-lasting prevention of wear marks on your New Defender’s rear bumper can be achieved with our designated paint protection film. This high-performance product by industry leader 3M protects your New Defender’s rear bumper from scratches and abrasion even when your loading area is constantly in use for work or sports. And don’t forget the damage a dog’s claws can do to the paint when you carry them regularly in a dog box in the back. Due to its multi-layer structure, the 3M wrap also protects the bumper from chipping caused by the impact of small stones or dropped objects. Installing the paint protection film is really easy. Everything you need is included: cleaning cloth, adhesion promoter wipe, squeegee and detailed instructions. If you’ve never done this before: don’t worry. The protective wrap can be positioned exactly as you need it, but if you have to readjust the position a few millimeters that’s no problem either. Simply slide the film into place. It only starts to adhere once you apply pressure with the squeegee. The protective wrap is available in black, matt black, anthracite grey or silver, making it a perfect visual match for any New Defender color scheme. Remove the protective film from the film and also spray the adhesive side lightly (so that it does not stick immediately). Apply the film and align it carefully. The moisture allows it to be moved around. Squeegee out the water, working from the centre outwards. Apply even pressure to remove the water and air bubbles. Remove any excess liquid with a cloth. The film is fixed after squeegeeing, but only reaches its final adhesion after 24–48 hours.   During this time: Do not wash, do not use a high-pressure cleaner. Keep as dry as possible and avoid mechanical stress.

Seat pad Land Rover Defender Many Landy critics bemoan the seat position in the Defender, the missing elbow room and the spartan original Land Rover seats. But that’s doing a disservice to the furniture from Solihull, especially the improved versions that were introduced in 2007. Even taller drivers, with seat rail extensions installed, can do mile after mile without problems for back and behind. So, if you’re restoring an old Defender or you put too much mileage on yours, it’s worth considering to refurbish the old seats instead of putting brand new ones in. As long as the seat covers are fine and only the foam cores have disintegrated, an upgrade with new seat foams can make a huge difference. This is classic DIY and pretty easy to do with our replacement foams for backrests and seat cushions. Simply remove the whole seat, take the backrest and seat cushion out, remove the covers and rip the old foam off the frame. The new foam cores can be fixed to the frame with standard spray adhesives. Then reverse the process and enjoy your firm new seats. The seat fits all Defender standard outer front seats up to 2016, the backrest for 2007 - 2016. Not suitable for special models.

Whether you’re going for a more muscular look or just better off-road performance, there are many good reasons to widen your Defender’s stance. You can go for fat MT tires or you can widen the track with wheel spacers or negative offset rims to achieve the desired effect. But keep in mind that your wheel covers may no longer be sufficient for your country’s road regulations and that in turn could affect your 4x4’s road legality. Apart from costly surprises in traffic stops, you also want to avoid potentially dangerous water and mud spray or debris being catapulted from exposed wheels. And then there’s also that slightly unbalanced look… At Nakatanenga, we thought there’s got to be a better solution than what’s out there and that’s why we teamed up with the experts at TREKFINDER to give you a functional, easily attached and exclusive solution to extend your existing original wheel arch guards. The result is a discrete self-adhesive rubber extension strip that widens the original Land Rover wheel arch guard by another 20 mm, simply by sticking it onto the original part. There’s no need to remove the original parts, drill new screw holes etc. The new guard’s protruding adhesive lip fits perfectly onto the original part and makes it very easy to position the 1.5 m extension perfectly. This should also work with identical after-market parts by Britpart et al, but with non-original parts we are unable to provide a warranty, of course. With a little experience and some planning, though, you can easily adjust the strips’ required length or their radius with a boxcutter and some sanding paper. Again, alterations are not covered by our product warranties. And last but not least, since our wheel arch extensions are self-adhesive, they are just as easily removed as they are mounted.
