Galvanised frame for Defender and Discovery
Frame galvanised This is where it all starts with a real 4x4 in general and the (classic) Defender in particular: We’re talking about the ladder-frame chassis, of course. Everything else is open to discussion with most serious off-roaders, that one ain’t. If your older Defender Td4, Td5, Tdi or your Discovery II Td5 is bound for a chassis replacement due to corrosion or structural damage, we can now supply an EU-manufactured, galvanized frame. The manufacturer is a supplier for military Defenders and that’s why critical parts of the chassis are strengthened. More robust than the original, they weigh only slightly more. Overall, the chassis are manufactured to the original measurements and are therefore easy to fit. The frame’s high-quality galvanizing offers superb protection from corrosion and can also be painted to enhance protective qualities even further. It also improves the look of the vehicle and makes technical inspections go more smoothly, judging from experience. All you need before the paint job is an application of Etch Primer to create an adhesive layer between zinc and paint. Etch Primer is a highly adhesive one-component epoxy that can be used on all the usual automotive surface materials. It simply sprays on and is the ideal primer for all subsequent quality finishes. Galvanized standard chassis frames for 90 and 110 can be supplied from the shelf for Defender and Discovery models mentioned above. The Tdi chassis construction supports a Td5 rear crossmember. This has the additional advantage that – in contrast to the Tdi – new towing components are still available, including the height adjustable Dixon Bate system. Chassis for 130 pick-ups or custom models, even 6x6, can be ordered and will be manufactured individually and to spec. Just contact us for assistance, questions or special requests. And since the two are more or less officially competing for the title of best successor to the old Landy, it's a pretty exciting affair. When it comes to the shape of the roof, the new Ineos is hardly distinguishable from the old Defender, including the slope at the front, the side gutters and the mighty roof load of 150 kg (dynamic load) and 420 kg (static). All of that makes it a joy to fit the Grenadier with our CargoBear modular roof rack. The legendary CargoBear is just as ambitious and versatile as the British newcomer with its Bavarian-Austrian technology and old-school look. The CargoBear for the Grenadier (Station Wagon/Utility Wagon) can be ordered in four variations – but thanks to our modular system, subsequent conversions or add-ons are easily done, whenever your specific requirements change. In the simplest, open version, the roof rack consists of three crossbars, a wind deflector at the front and the end carrier at the rear. Replacement gearbox - transfer case, overhauled LT230 for TD4/TD5 Stage1/Stage2 Winchester Gears Stage LT230 are improved versions of the standard Defender and Discovery transfer cases. Common sources of failure have been carefully analysed and effective solutions implemented. Sleeved main housing The bore of the intermediate shaft, which is prone to wear and oil leaks, is machined and fitted with a steel sleeve. In addition, the frequently damaged bearing bore of the main shaft was taken care of by fitting a cylindrical sleeve. Intermediate shaft The intermediate shafts that hold the gear in place often wear out, leading to gear noise and, in later 1.21 gear sets, total gear failure. the high performance shafts fitted are made from 17.4ph material to ensure a long service life. High capacity oil pan Available as an optional extra, this oil pan increases oil capacity by 0.6 litres and helps keep the transfer case cool and well lubricated. Centre differential Stage 1 : Features a heavy-duty one-piece cross shaft that replaces the weaker two-piece design, a common weak point. Stage 2 : Incorporates an Ashcroft ATB Limited Slip Diff, a spiral design that optimises torque and drive distribution between the front and rear axles. This provides improved traction and eliminates the weakness of the standard unlocked centre differential, ideal for racing on low traction surfaces. Overhauled manual gearbox R380 for Defender TD5 and MT82 for Defender TD4 The R380 manual gearbox, which was installed in 4 revisions from 1998 to 2006 in the 300Tdi and Td5, among others, owes its name to the 380Nm input force for which the gearbox was originally designed. After initial teething troubles in conjunction with the LT230T transfer case and corresponding improvements, the reliable R380 was only replaced when European environmental regulations made it necessary to switch to the Td4 engine with its six-speed gearbox. We offer top-quality reconditioned R380 / MT82 replacement gearboxes for Td5 and Td4. For this item, we charge an additional deposit of 400.00 euros for your current manual gearbox. CargoBear system roof rack 2.0 - for Mercedes G
Nakatanenga CargoBear 2.0 | Lightweight. Strong. Clever for Mercedes G When it comes to powerful performance, our very own CargoBear is definitely the Grizzly among roof racks. Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably. The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s center of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Two legends are coming together for the first time: the new Land Rover Defender, arguably the most complete 4x4 off-road vehicle at present, and our tried and tested, very successful modular roof rack system CargoBear. The bear crowns every new Landy, whether it’s a 90 or a 110. At Nakatanenga, we took our time to finetune the CargoBear for every design detail, technical specification and user requirement the Defender L663 (from MY 2020) challenged us with. At its full length of 2.41 m, our rack consists of 3 crossbars, two platform elements as well as front and rear modules. The overall width of 1.20 m gives you almost 3 square meters of fully usable cargo space. The entire surface can be loaded and walked upon – a decisive advantage over many competing products. The CargoBear is screwed into the original mounting points of the roof rails which have to be removed, of course. Another great advantage over the competition is the fact that you can configure the CargoBear rack in two heights: At 100 mm, the glass roof – if you have one –remains fully functional. If your Defender doesn’t have a glass roof or if you prefer a lower, more streamlined profile, the rack can be mounted at only 80mm above the roof. Whether you’re choosing the high or low mount, aerodynamics was always our main concern in the CargoBear’s development. There are no legally required speed limits when driving with the rack, but we recommend a top speed of 160 km/h when empty and 130 km/h when loaded. For the overall load capacity please refer to your owner’s manual and the specific version or configuration of your vehicle. The roof rack’s weight of up to 50 kg has to be deducted from the dynamic load capacity. Bulkhead for Land Rover Defender, material: Stainless steel
No more rust: replacement bulkhead for Td5 and 300 Tdi The bulkhead is pretty much the most complex body part in a Landy – and one of the most vulnerable components, too. For one, it’s sporting many edges, corners, folds, curves and rivet connections and requires a considerable number of screw holes: to the frame, to the connections in the engine bay and to the windshield. Add to that a whole bunch of openings for steering, pedals, air and electrics and you see the problem. All this structural complexity combined with its positioning exposes the bulkhead to water splashing up from below or trickling down from above. Dirt and chemicals collect in the nooks and crannies and trap moisture almost permanently. On the inside of the cabin condensation or leaks can produce the same effect behind the dashboard, panels or floor mats, thereby creating constant moisture exposure from both sides. No wonder, that the bulkhead is one of those components that suffer most from visible or hidden corrosion. Over time, it can even affect the frame.
