Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably. The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s centre of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation. And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications. PLEASE NOTE: In Defender with pop-up roof / lift roof, the original roof is often shortened. If necessary, the roof rack then does not fit. Many well-designed details show that this was no empty promise by Ineos. The standard airline rails above the rear mudguards, for example, are a feature that every proper 4x4 should have, because real off-roaders or overlanders want to transport important equipment on the outside of the vehicle without having to drill holes or making other destructive modifications. Our modular MOLLE vehicle panels for the Grenadier are very easy to attach to the airline rails mentioned above and the rain gutters via stainless steel brackets. The universal design allows mounting on both the left and right side of the vehicle. Dismantling possible without leaving a trace. Nakatanenga CargoBear accessory holder for maximum traction Maximum Traction Boards are an extremely lightweight plastic alternative to conventional aluminum sandboards, a must-have for all serious off-roaders and expedition enthusiasts. If you have at least two CargoBear crossbars - or the entire roof rack - on the classic Defender (up to MY2016) or Mercedes G-Class, you can now install a robust and quickly accessible mount for the traction boards with little effort. The mount consists of a bracket set with two of our tried-and-tested CargoBear awning brackets (stainless steel) and special aluminium mounting plates for the traction boards. The awning brackets are simply screwed to the crossbars’ angled sides. All brackets are powder-coated in black. Our hidden underfloor locker for the front footwell is integrated in the floor panel and thereby creates a lot more security for your valuables. Secured by a lock, dust- and watertight and in most cases hidden by floor mats, the underfloor boxes are the ideal storage space for all those extremely important small things: documents, passports, wallets, expensive electronics, gadgets, tools, medication etc. Sporting a volume of ca. 7 liters, this roughly square storage box will hold an astounding amount of your most valuable items. Since the boxes are mounted underneath the footwell floor, we make them from extremely robust, powder-coated stainless steel. Installing the assembly kits for Td5/Td4 in the right or left front seat footwells is really simple. Our textile workshop has now come up with a dedicated storage bag with carrying straps especially for the WALUFLEX pipe. Made from robust and easy-to-clean 1000D Nylon material, the pack bag stores and protects the warm air tube. Moreover, it also saves a lot of valuable pack space. By adding one or two of our ½“ and ¼“ organizers for socket wrench sets, of course. It’s really easy, attach the socket organizer’s Velcro strap to the Tool Roll’s fleece, push the sockets onto the studded clips and roll the whole thing up. There you go, that’s order and organization for you. No more fumbling around in oily pouches or cluttered boxes to find the right sockets. The high-quality holders feature 8 studs each for half or quarter inch sockets. The smaller Tool Roll S fits one organizer, the medium M will fit two across. The studded brackets holding the sockets sport metal ball bearings, just like a quality ratchet, thereby guaranteeing a firm and secure grip during storage and transport. Additionally, the individual brackets can be shifted (or removed entirely) to accommodate different socket sizes. Inside the Tool Roll, the organizer is held in place by a robust Velcro strip made from sturdy Nylon and strengthened by a plastic plate. The organizer rail in turn is attached to the Velcro strip by two elastic straps. That way you can easily take out the organizer rail or swap it for another one, without compromising the exact positioning within the Tool Roll. They are the same color as the mesh for a seamless look. The elastic cargo mesh can then be attached to the frame and the interior grab handles with 12 adjustable straps. To make it easier for you to fill the mesh space, there are also two click buckles in the front for easy access.Light and flat pieces of equipment, sleeping bags, textiles and the like will find the perfect storage space inside the mesh, even in a fully loaded Jimny.If you do not have handles on the headlining, 2 ring nuts are supplied to attach the net.
