Parabolic springs for 88" and 109", Land Rover Series II, IIA and III, front (2-layer) and rear axle (3-layer); including Cellular Dynamic shock absorbers Basically, a parabolic spring is a spring that consists of two or more leaves. The leaves only touch in three places: In the centre, where they are attached to the axle, and at the outer ends, where they are attached to the vehicle. Between these points, the leaves do not touch, unlike conventional leaf springs.Since in the Parabolic spring a spring tapers from the wide centre to the outer ends, a single leaf acts like a complete spring - the thickness of the spring changes according to a parabola and provides a constant distribution of tension. Each leaf has more or less the shape of a complete multi-leaf spring and can therefore withstand a comparable force. The high quality OEM parabolic springs are paired with Cellular Dynamic shock absorbers. Spare Parts and Accessories for Land Rover Series I, II, IIA and III
In 1947, Maurice Wilks, technical director at Rover, scratched a sketch into the sand on a Welsh beach. The vehicle he drew was inspired by his Willys Jeep but with the ambition to do it properly. A year later, the first Land Rover was born. The general expectation was that it might sell reasonably well for a few years after the war. That turned out to be, putting it politely, a miscalculation.
The Land Rover Series 1, 2, 2A and 3 were built from 1948 to 1985, and a remarkable number of them are still on the road. Anyone driving the Defender's predecessor probably enjoys a good spanner session, but decent spare parts get thinner on the ground with every passing year. Nakatanenga stocks spare parts for all Series Land Rover models, including leaf springs, shock absorbers, brakes, clutch kits and body panels. Suspension and Leaf Springs for Land Rover Series
Leaf springs are as much part of a Series as the smell of oil in the engine bay. Anyone who has covered longer distances on the original multi-leaf springs, however, will know that "comfort" is a rather generous term. The parabolic springs for Series II, IIA and III change that noticeably less friction between the leaves means a considerably better ride. The kit comes complete with Cellular Dynamic shock absorbers and caster correction wedges, for both the 88" and the 109".
Those keeping the original leaf springs will find the Girling shock absorbers to be the classic choice for all Series models available for front and rear, in both short and long wheelbase fitments.
Clutch Kits for Land Rover Series I, II, IIA and III
The original clutch was never built to last forever. LOF Clutches in England make clutch kits that handle considerably more. For everyday use, there is the ROADspec range for Series I and II, Series IIA and Series III: heavy-duty friction material, a sprung centre hub, and pedal feel just like the original. Suitable for the 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines, six-cylinder and V8 conversions.
Anyone who regularly tows or genuinely wants to turn the old classic into an expedition vehicle should look at the POWERspec for the Series III. The clutch for Land Rovers that work, not just drive.
Brakes for Land Rover Series IIA and III
The standard replacement brake drums currently available on the aftermarket are, to put it charitably, no triumph of manufacturing tolerance. LOF Brakes had a look at the situation and decided to do it properly. The LOF brake kits come with drums machined to 40 microns concentricity, paired with brake shoes specifically matched to them. Anyone who has ever pulled up to a junction in a Series and wondered where that squealing noise was coming from will understand why that matters. Available for 10-inch and 11-inch drums, as a complete kit or as a brake shoe axle set on its own.
Body Panels, Fittings and Hardware
Some parts for the Series simply are not made any more. Or only in a quality that does not deserve the name. During a restoration, that becomes painfully obvious. Which is why Nakatanenga has manufactured a few Series parts in-house.
The seat frame for Series II and III is one example, a Nakatanenga own-manufacture part. The original frames for the deluxe seat cushions are so scarce on the second-hand market that winning the lottery is probably the easier option.
The rear body trim profile is something nearly every Series needs sooner or later, because road spray and mechanical stress take their toll here more than anywhere else. The replacement strip matches the OEM part but costs roughly half the price. Then there are tread plates, headlamp bezels, stainless steel door hinges and the stainless steel floor panel fixing kit. All small parts that, taken together, make the difference between a Series that falls apart and one that stays together.
Lighting and Electrics
The LED rear fog lamp and LED reversing lamp for the Series III and Defender (1987 - 2002) are a sensible swap: brighter, longer-lasting, and lower current draw on a vehicle whose alternator is chronically overwhelmed, that is no small detail.
The heater resistor for the Series III is one of those parts whose absence only becomes apparent when the heater fan has just one speed left: all or nothing. And the windscreen wipers for Series II and III are the cheapest item in the range and something of a last line of defence against British weather.

Do Defender parts fit the Land Rover Series?
Sometimes yes, often no. Body fittings like the rear trim profile, tread plates or door hinges partly cross over between Defender and Series III. For suspension, brakes and clutch, they do not. The Series runs leaf springs and drum brakes, the Defender has coil springs and disc brakes. When in doubt, check the part number rather than guessing or ask the Nakatanenga Bärater.
Why does Nakatanenga manufacture its own Series parts?
Because some original parts are simply no longer available. The seat frame for the deluxe seats is a good example: virtually impossible to find second-hand, never remanufactured as a new part. All Nakatanenga own-manufacture parts are based on the original specifications and made in Germany.
