Glow plug connector Land Rover Defender If the diesel has difficulty getting going when starting from cold, and if it nails and smokes particularly badly, this is often due to the glow plugs. Before replacing the plugs, however, you should first check the condition of the cables and plugs. Often, the problem is simply that cables and plugs are exposed through porous plastic sheathing and the electrical contacts are suffering. As a rule, the service life of the plugs far exceeds that of the cable and plug connections, because cables and plugs and their insulation are naturally much more exposed to mechanical and weather-related influences. With our glow plug connector repair kits, Defender with Td5 and Td4 2.4l engines can be very easily retrofitted in case of problems with cables or connectors. This is also recommended if the glow plug set is being replaced anyway. The advantage of the repair kit is that the next time a problem occurs, it is not necessary to replace the entire wiring harness at great expense; instead, it is sufficient to replace the plug and cable up to the crimp connection. Heavy Duty Clutch Kit for Land Rover Defender TD5 The clutch has to transmit enormous forces, especially when shifting gears under higher loads, e.g. in trailer operation or in vehicles with increased performance. A sometimes occurring problem in connection with the original clutch of the Defender is the penetration of oil from the engine or the gearbox into the clutch bell. This oil is absorbed by the porous friction linings and repeatedly comes into contact with the friction lining surface during driving due to the frictional heat generated. As a result of the reduced frictional engagement, the friction linings generate more heat and glaze. The heat is a measure of the converted energy that is no longer available to the drive!The organic lining used in this clutch cannot absorb oil and therefore cannot vitrify. It convinces with specially adjusted friction modifiers with a soft response behaviour and enables a 100% frictional connection. Diesel replacement pump for Land Rover Defender Td5 w. Installation kit The problem of the susceptible diesel pump on the TD5 is well known: Even comparatively minor contamination can cause the diesel pump to fail. Annoyingly, the original pump is located in the tank, which means that you first have to remove the tank to access the diesel pump.Our replacement diesel pump is not installed in the tank but outside, which makes it easy to access and it also has a replaceable filter. This can be easily replaced in the event of contamination. The pump is located outside the tank and is looped into the line. The fine filter mounted on the suction side gets all dirt and grime out of the diesel base and is easy and inexpensive to replace (see replacement filter). The original pump must be removed and replaced with a suction hose. The pump housing with tank sensor, however, remains.The pump works with any tank or auxiliary tank. Since the pump also has suction power, it does not have to be installed at the lowest point. The connection is made via LR quick-release couplings or optionally via normal diesel hoses. The pump is installed outside the tank in a protected place. On the Defender 110, for example, above the rear axle on the chassis beam. Our pre-assembled complete kit with replacement filter comes with detailed installation instructions. The tank must be removed for installation, as the original pump is removed. Often its contacts are burned or worn, which still allows the starter to spin, but without the engine starting or only starting very reluctantly.For these cases we offer a cost-effective solution: with our service kit you can overhaul your starter yourself for a fraction of the price for a new OE starter (more than EUR 400,-).
This is an easy DIY job without the need for special tools or expertise.
