THE ALL NEW EXTREMEspec MT82 output shaft kit from LOF On Defenders with 2.4 and 2.2 Tdci Puma engines, it is a very common fault that the coupling shaft between the MT82 gearbox and the Lt230 transfer box wears out and fails! This is due to the shaft’s original two-part design with a dry splined coupling. Without grease, the grinding of metal on metal wears down the spines and eventually you’ll notice first a clunking noise and ultimately a total loss of drive. Solutions with specially greased OEM parts were unable to fix the problem, so the specialists at LOF have come up with a solid one-piece design for the coupling shaft to replace the splined coupling.
