This underlay also prevents condensation, which is typical of roof tents with closed windows. For car campers and roof tent enthusiasts, roof loads are often a (ge)important issue. If you take it lightly, you risk roof damage. But away from the play on words and towards the bare figures, because the trend is clear: the average dynamic roof loads of vehicles are falling. While the G-Class with 200 kg and the new Defender with up to 168 kg are still solid values, things go downhill pretty quickly after that. Even a new Land Cruiser J150 Prado only manages 80 kilos, and in the normal passenger car segment the average is closer to 60 kilos, with a downward trend. In addition to changes in vehicle statics due to lightweight construction and electrification, the increased use of sensors and assistance systems is probably responsible for this. And even if the values for a stationary vehicle are of course considerably higher, the critical range for commercially available roof tents is approaching. At Nakatanenga, we are reacting to this development at an early stage and have therefore developed the Roof Lodge Lightweight, an ultra-light roof tent which, with a total weight of only approx. 46 kg, weighs a record low on the scales or the car roof. Of course, there are no restrictions on the space, comfort and weather protection you are used to from our Roof Lodges. How does it work? What is the difference between the LIGHTWEIGHT roof tent and our EVOLUTION 2 folding tents? >>> Detailed explanations and a description of the points listed below can be found on our info page, which opens in a new window. >>> First of all, we use 100% Oxford nylon with ripstop for the skin of the Lightweight, an extremely strong but surprisingly light material that weighs in at only 102 g/m2. Compared to the 320 g/m2 on our Evolution 2, this is a reduction of a whopping 78%. The fabric of the tent skin and the sun awning of the Lightweight are identical, PU-coated on the inside and impregnated on the outside. This means that no compromises are made in terms of wind and rain protection. How can weight be saved on the roof when travelling with the roof tent? Further weight can be saved on the Roof Lodge Lightweight by choosing the mattresses. As an alternative to our one-piece standard foam mattress (60 mm, approx. 5 kg) and the optional 3D mesh mattress (approx. 3.5 kg), we also offer a self-inflating Kampa mattress with a thickness of 10 cm and a weight of approx. 5.5 kg. The 10 cm thickness of the air mattress has been chosen so that, with a lower total weight, a comparable lying comfort and similar insulation properties to the combination of foam mattress with mesh underlay are given. Last but not least, the aluminium ladder can be removed and transported inside the car, which reduces both the roof load and the overall height of the vehicle. On car ferries, for example, 10 cm less height can often make a money-saving difference. This item is bulky goods. The stated shipping weight differs from the actual item weight. The actual item weights are: Roof Lodge Lightweight with self-inflating mattress: approx. 47 kg. Roof Lodge Lightweight with standard mattress: approx 49 kg Roof Lodge Lightweight with standard mattress and 3D mesh underlay: approx. 52 kg Save weight during the journey and stow the following items inside the vehicle: Ladder: approx. 4.3 kg Self-inflating mattress: 5,2 kg Saar foam mattress: 5 kg (standard) and 7kg (hard) Saar foam mattress with 3D mesh underlay: 8kg and 10kg respectively

Mobile parking heater without battery and in aluminium box You can find information on hire equipment below. “It's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate” is the old song and this thin line between loving and hating the same thing is definitely the line on the thermometer in winter. If you freeze off the part of your body with an A, you're guaranteed not to enjoy even the fattest fish at the ice hole, the most magical aurora borealis or the greatest fun at the elephant meeting. That's why we have our solution for all outdoor activities in the cold seasons in the Alubox Pro: the AUTOTERM parking heater for on the go! With the exception of the battery, everything you, your family or your crew need for a warm and cozy outdoor feeling in your car, camper or roof tent is in the ultra-robust, waterproof 29L box. At its heart is the affordable and powerful AUTOTERM (Planar) 2D12 air heater, which can be powered from the vehicle battery via the cigarette lighter adapter. It is controlled via the PU5 control element. A 5.4 l fuel tank is already integrated in the box. This makes our mini heater ideal for on the road and mobile use on the vehicle or wherever a weatherproof cable connection to a car battery can be established. The warm air is transported into the room to be heated via a firmly screw-fastened, waterproof Flexi hose, which can be ordered separately in the desired length here in the store. ATTENTION: As a precaution, we would like to point out that operation in closed rooms is not permitted due to the risk of poisoning from exhaust fumes. Furthermore, for optimum heating performance, care should be taken to ensure that the air inlets for combustion and hot air are positioned so that they are protected from the weather. You can find the perfect storage bag for the Flexi hose here in the store.A larger standalone version of this parking heater with integrated battery is available here. You can also hire this parking heater from us. This means that the heater automatically reduces the injection volume according to the ambient air pressure. This reduces or prevents sooting of the combustion chamber when the air oxygen content falls. The maximum heat output decreases in proportion to the amount of oxygen in the air. Roughly speaking, from 2000 meters upwards, the loss of output per 500m altitude is approx. 5%. Manufacturer tests up to 3440m were problem-free. No problems are to be expected up to 4000m. Up to 5000m the software calculates itself - but this could not yet be tested at real altitude. Please note: Most portable power stations or battery boxes (such as Goal Zero, Eco Flow, Bluetti etc.) are unfortunately not suitable for operating the mobile parking heaters. The heater requires up to 15A as starting current and when shutting down, but very few battery boxes can provide this..In general, however, direct connection to the battery terminals is the best solution If you want to heat the interior of your vehicle, we offer an installation service for warm air ducting through a ventilation plate. Please note the legal information on batteries HERE. For certain types of batteries, we are legally obliged to charge a deposit.

Nakatanenga Evolution 270° awning, incl. two side panels, stone-grey On long journeys, camping holidays or a quick trip to the lake, the 270° roof awning from Roof Lodge turns every Landy, T5 & Co into a practical and, above all, quickly opened camp. Once you have found the perfect spot for the night or even the whole holiday, the awning fans out in no time at all from the left-hand side of the vehicle to far behind the rear of the vehicle, is then supported by four aluminium telescopic poles and tensioned with the ropes. With the help of flexible side wall tarpaulins that can be quickly attached, an optimal combination of weather protection and openness can be created. Two side panels are included. This creates an adaptable, dry, wind-protected and shaded area for cooking, eating, working and relaxing. The material of the awning is high-quality, PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The functional fabric is extremely tear-resistant, water- and dirt-repellent and, due to its relatively high weight of 280 g/m2, also produces significantly less fluttering noise in the wind. Our Roof Lodge awning, which weighs 16.8 kg (incl. side panels), can be mounted on the right and left of the vehicle's roof rack, making it ideal for covering crucial areas such as the driver's, passenger's, side and rear doors, depending on the vehicle model and size. The awning measures 4.35m in total length and covers 4.1m at the side and 2m at the rear (see drawing in the product images). The area of the awning covers approx. 9 sqm ². The awning is secured at the rear with the included tensioning strap. A 25 mm wide nylon strap guarantees stable lashing even with the most varied vehicle/roof rack configurations. Enjoy all-round freedom - certainly 270° of it - with the Roof Lodge awning from Nakatanenga. The maximum mounting height of the awning is about 2.20 meters. Available for either the right or left side Please note: This item is bulky goods. The stated shipping weight differs from the actual item weight. Nakatanenga CargoBear Quick mounting rails for various roof racks If you use your roof tent frequently or want to mount it on different vehicles, our quick mount system for roof tents is an enormously practical and time-saving solution. Whether CargoBear, FrontRunner or other roof rack systems, fastening our practical, two-part mounting rails is a question of minutes. Each rail’s bottom is attached to the carrier and the top to the underside of the roof tent, thereby providing and easy to reach connection that is equally quick to fasten or loosen again. That way, you only drive your tent around when you're actually going camping. As a general rule, two rails will be sufficient for mounting most tents. However, for larger/longer hard-shell tents, for example, we recommend using three rails. The black powder-coated bottom part (on the roof rack) of each pair of rails is attached to the stainless steel top part (on the roof tent) with two to four screws.Compared to the old frame solution, the enormously space-saving quick-change rails are very easy to pack – leading to significantly lower shipping costs compared to the expensive special delivery charges for the old system. You are not sure whether a roof tent can be mounted on your vehicle? We are happy to help and advise you! So far, we have found the perfect solution for almost every vehicle. Length: 113cmHeight: 5,5cm Just get in touch at +49 (0) 9181 466 644 Please note:the basic set consists of 2 rails with 2 upper and 2 lower parts each (4 parts).Normally, the basic set is sufficient for the assembly.E.g. for large roof tents you can mount an additional rail (2 parts) for more stability.

The Roof Lodge Evolution awning ... which can also be used on many roof tents from other manufacturers. The widespread term <awning> is somewhat misleading in itself, as it has always been more of a hanging tent in which you can quickly and easily store camping equipment such as a table and chairs, the little ones' toys and a pint of beer. This not only applies to tidying up in the evening, but also in the event of a downpour. What's more, the fact that these items are no longer immediately visible makes them a little safer from theft. We also like to refer to this awning simply as a <shower curtain>. This name also gives you an idea of the actual size of the hanging tents. This is always 120 cm in depth and 140 cm or 165 cm depending on the tent width. This makes them significantly larger than most showers, but still smaller than what many people imagine. However, if the roof tent is installed at a sufficient height, you have a space that can also be used comfortably for changing. These awnings were and are less suitable for use in bad weather. This results in a requirement profile for them that is completely different from that of the floor tents of the extended tents. As the awning's tent character is clearly in the background, we have given it some thought and completely redesigned it according to its use. They are now made from the same material that we already use for our LIGHTWEIGHT - T109 ripstop nylon with Oxford weave. This material is surprisingly strong for its surprisingly low weight of just 102 g/m² and is the obvious choice for use in an awning. As awnings, like ground tents, usually have to be transported in the vehicle, the pack size is not insignificant. The fact that the usual voluminous and heavy PVC groundsheet has been replaced by a thin and light tarpaulin means that the pack size of the awning can almost be described as tiny. Due to the type of use, elaborate window constructions are as pointless as spikes for ballerinas - nobody uses them. Of course, windows do have a right to exist in hanging tents; after all, you can not only see outside through them, they also let light into the tent. But this is where the T109 ripstop nylon comes into play again: this material has good light permeability, which puts the question of windows to rest once and for all. The entrance is usually located behind the ladder, which literally stands in the way of quickly stowing away the equipment. That's why we decided not to have an entrance. Some people will now say that Nakatanenga have definitely overshot the mark. But we simply questioned the design of the usual entrances with the entrance fabric, mosquito net and zippers and found that they were not necessary. Our awning therefore doesn't have an ENTRANCE, but of course there is an ACCESS - in fact several. The awning is fitted with zippers at all 4 corners. These can be used to separate the side walls from each other and thus not only determine the access as desired. You can also roll up one or all of the side walls. In the evening, for example, all you need to do is place the table and chairs on the tarpaulin, unroll the side walls and close the zippers. And the awning also offers real added value: the side tent walls also have two eyelets on the underside. The side walls can either be tensioned at an angle or extended using optional telescopic poles. This creates a rain-protected or shaded area of just under 5.5 by 1.2 meters. The awnings are suitable for all roof tents of the appropriate size that use the edge profiles shown on the Roof Lodge Evolution and LIGHTWEIGHT information pages. If you are not quite sure, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is not possible to use the awning and shoe bag at the same time. Note: The telescopic poles are NOT included in the scope of delivery.

Cozy, Warm, and Dry – Your Upgrade for Cool Nights in the Roof Lodge Evolution 2! Do you love adventuring with your Roof Lodge Evolution 2 roof tent but don't want to sacrifice comfort in cooler temperatures or on damp nights? Then our thermo inner tent is just the thing for you! More Warmth, Less Condensation – It's That Simple: The principle is as simple as it is ingenious: just like with proven outdoor clothing, we rely on the layering principle. The additional inner tent creates an insulating air layer and noticeably improves the climate inside your roof tent. Pleasant Warmth: The quilted three-layer material, with polyester fibers on the outside and thermal fleece on the inside, retains heat much more effectively in the tent. This makes even cold nights comfortably warm. Reduced Condensation: The extra layer helps to minimize the formation of condensation inside your roof tent, ensuring a more pleasant and drier sleeping environment. Easy Installation: The inner tent is a perfect fit for your Roof Lodge Evolution 2 (available for widths 140cm and 165cm) and can be easily attached to the tent poles with clips and to the mattress with straps. Practical Details: The ventilation openings of the inner tent are aligned with the windows of the outer tent and, together with the robust YKK zippers, ensure good ventilation options. Additional Sound Insulation: As a pleasant side effect, the material also dampens external noise, ensuring a quieter night. Convenient: Your roof tent can be closed even with the thermo inner tent attached. Make your Roof Lodge Evolution 2 even cozier with the thermo inner tent and extend your camping season! Get your upgrade now for maximum sleeping comfort, no matter where your next adventure takes you. Note: The thermo inner tent is washable at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Is the Nakatanenga thermal inner tent for Evolution 2 compatible with other roof tents? The answer to this question can only be a resounding yes and no: As you can clearly see, there are areas where the inner tent is slightly too large and there are areas where it is a little too short. This leads to it being raised at the sides and sagging slightly on the longitudinal axis. The fit is therefore not optimal for tents from other manufacturers, but we are talking about deviations in the order of just under 3cm (depending on the actual height of the poles). To avoid any misunderstandings: The thermal inner tent does NOT have a floor, even if the above illustration might give this impression. However, it is fixed with elasticated straps under the corners of the mattress.

Practical Side Extension for Nakatanenga Awnings Please note: The front panels are only suitable for 250 cm wide awnings. The front sections are crammed into the top of the awning and attached to the side of the pole poles (see pictures). The side panels are attached to the horizontal aluminium poles at the top and to the pole poles at the side. The side panels are suitable for all awning widths. We offer the side panels in pairs, the front panels individually. This practical extension for our awnings is ideal for travel and holidays and offers ideal protection from the sun, evening cold, rain and wind. It significantly increases the utility value of the Nakatanenga awning. The fabric is made of sturdy RipStop nylon (600den, with PU coating) and is therefore largely safe from mould and mildew stains. Nevertheless, a damp awning or the side walls should be dried after 2-3 days. These individual walls have been deliberately designed without additional windows and doors. Since the individual elements can be braced like tarps, openings in the surface would mean that the wind would push the rain under the opening covers and thus the areas underneath could not be used. Side panel for Nakatanenga Evolution2 Awning Roof-mounted car awnings like our EVO II are a great pieces of equipment if you want to turn your 4x4 or van into a quickly set up mobile camp. But proper protection from wind, weather, sun and unwanted attention comes only with the addition of side walls. Conditions vary from location to location and even throughout a single day: the sun is moving from east to west and the wind is changing directions, too. By the sea, it becomes a lot stronger in the evenings and carries dust, sand and the occasional shower. But aside from weather protection, the side tarps also create valuable privacy in crowded camp grounds and other popular locations. Our side walls come in pairs and are the best solution for all these challenges. Simply stick the velcro fasteners to the roof awning’s frame and fasten the tarps to the ground using the four included tent pegs. All of that is simply a question of minutes and if the wind, the sun or a new location demand a change in position you can easily swap the sidewalls to accommodate the situation. The two side wall tarps are made from high quality PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blended fabric containing 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This highly functional material is extremely resistant to tearing, it is water and dirt repellent and due to its high specific weight of 280 g/ m2 the material will make less noise in the wind. The tarp’s inner side features a layer of aluminum to assist in regulating temperature and to diffuse and amplify low intensity light sources like candles, camping lanterns etc. Color:Stone gray. Dimensions:Width 2 m, height 1.95 m Scope of delivery: 2 x side wall tarp4 x tent pegs Material:PU-coated RipStop polycotto

Additional side panels for Nakatanenga 270° degree awning stone grey, 1 pair The Nakatanenga Evolution 270° roof awning transforms any Defender, T5 & Co into a practical, flexible and, above all, quickly opened camp in an instant. On expedition, on holiday or just for an afternoon at the lake. The basic version of the roof awning comes with two side panels. If you want to turn the awning into an enclosed storage area that is protected on all sides, you can order the two additional side sections here. Like the side walls already included with the awning, the two additional tarpaulins are made of high-quality, PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The functional fabric is extremely tear-resistant, water- and dirt-repellent and, due to its relatively high weight of 280 g/m2 , it also produces significantly less fluttering noise in the wind. It is aluminium-coated on the inside. This helps regulate heat and also ensures pleasant and effective use of existing light sources due to the diffusing reflection. The side tarpaulins are attached to the poles as required and can be lashed together. This means that when the awning is completely closed, there is hardly any surface for wind and weather to attack

No More Dampness, Hello Sleeping Comfort – Your 3D Mesh Mattress Underlay! You might know the feeling: despite good ventilation, moisture forms under the mattress in your roof tent, camper, or on your yacht. This is not only unpleasant but can also lead to mildew stains or mold. But that's over now! Our 3D Mesh Mattress Underlay is the clever solution for a dry and healthy sleeping climate. Like an Invisible Air Conditioner for Your Mattress: The secret lies in the special structure of the 3D fabric, also known as spacer fabric. Imagine around one million tiny, upright polyester threads per square meter forming a 10 mm thick, air-permeable layer under your mattress. Optimal Ventilation: This structure allows continuous air circulation. Moisture created by sweating or ambient air can escape ideally before it accumulates and causes problems. More Sleeping Comfort: The 3D Mesh not only regulates moisture but also relieves pressure. It adapts to the contours of your body and ensures excellent load distribution. The result: you lie more comfortably and sleep more restfully – almost as if on clouds! Robust and Adaptable: Made from 100% polyester, the underlay is durable and hard-wearing. If necessary, you can easily cut it to your individual dimensions with a good pair of household scissors. For our Roof Lodge roof tents (140 cm and 165 cm wide) and similarly wide models, it is already perfectly sized at 230 cm long and features practical cutouts for the tent poles. Simply Place Underneath, Sleep Better: Using it is incredibly simple: place the 3D Mesh Mattress Underlay directly between your mattress and the tent floor or sleeping surface. You'll immediately benefit from improved ventilation and a noticeably more comfortable lying sensation. Get your 3D Mesh Mattress Underlay now and ensure a permanently dry, hygienic, and comfortable sleeping experience on all your adventures! Material: 100% Polyester

Front parts for our awnings series Evolution 2 ... are also suitable for the awnings of other manufacturers - the aluminum front profile must only be equipped with a free keder profile for this purpose or one must be retrofitted. Front parts fulfill - especially in combination with our awning side parts - various functions: They are an excellent windbreak - this is where the relatively heavy fabric (280g/m² PU-coated RipStop polycotton - our stone-grey sun sail and awning fabric) comes into play, which is characterized, among other things, by the significantly reduced fluttering noise. They are the ideal rain protection - for this purpose, our sun sail and awning fabric is metal-coated on one side (inside) and water- and dirt-repellent due to the impregnation of the other side (outside). They can be tensioned or also displayed by means of optionally available telescopic poles and thus increase the shaded area immensely. Because of the small and in itself not worth mentioning packing size, our awning front parts as well as our awning side parts belong to these small things with the enormous benefit. If the awning protects from the evening and night chill from above, these awning extensions again significantly increase the comfort. The inside metal coating - primarily the wetness barrier layer - naturally contributes its part to this, reflecting not only the light of a lamp that is probably present, but also to a certain extent emitted thermal radiation (this effect is minor, but quite noticeable). Material:65% polyester / 35% cottonThe length is always 200cm, please select the width.

Sense and purpose of an awning compact extension? Glare protection when the sun is low in the skyThe compact extension was developed directly from practical requirements - a nice formulation that in itself means nothing more than: "We were so annoyed and dazzled by the low sun one fine day that we wanted to remedy the situation." And already the initial question is actually fully answered. But that would only be half the truth. On the following picture you can see an awning without extension shown above: As the sun sinks (the same applies in the morning, of course - but for the sake of clarity we will limit ourselves here to the afternoon or evening situation), the light falls further and further under the awning. At a certain position of the sun, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person - from now on, the sun can dazzle until it sets. The illustration below shows an awning with a compact extension, which offers several advantages with its angled bracing: When the sun is high, a much larger area is shaded.Only when the sun is setting, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person. Here, of course, deviations are possible, since both the slope of the guy, the size of the person and his sitting position are influencing factors. But the most important thing is: You can see what's going on in your surroundings despite the glare shield! If the eyes and the lower edge of the compact extension are on a horizontal plane, then the view would extend exactly to the (ideal) horizon. If you compare that with a moderately braced complete front part, where the view is just between a few centimetres to a few steps - what a difference! What if the sun comes in from the side?Well, then the vehicle will probably have to be moved. But not with our new compact extension. All you have to do is unhinge it from the front, and you can attach it to the side in just a few easy steps. Voilà!But please note: The awnings have a uniform depth of two meters, but differ in their widths. Ideally it hit here all those who have a 200er awning. Owners of a 250 have three options: They simply allow the extension to protrude when used from the side - utility over beauty. You opt for a 200 compact extension - this does not detract from the function. You buy two compact extensions at once - a 250 for the front and a 200 for the side. Feel free to guess what we recommend ;-) Material:Made from our sun sail and awning fabric, a 280 gsm RipStop Polycotton (65% polyester / 35% cotton), metal coated on one side; water and dirt repellent impregnated;due to the comparatively heavy quality, significantly less flutter. Colour: stone grey (taupe) Our compact extensions are also suitable for use on the awnings of most other manufacturers. The only requirement is a free keder strip in the front profile of the awning or such must be retrofitted.

Extension strip for Evolution front and bottom tents The front and bottom tents of the EVOLUTION series are designed for a tent mounting height of up to 210 cm. Of course, the zipper thus added is protected by a tarpaulin from direct rain. Roof Lodge Evolution Front Extension Arc Shape for Car Awning (Bag Awning). The extension is made from the same high quality material as the Roof Lodge Evolution canopy / awning and provides ideal sun, privacy and wind protection. The extension is simply pulled into the existing keder rail of the awning. The extension has a keder diameter of 6.5 mm and is therefore also suitable for many other awnings. The corners of the extension can be fixed to the ground with the pegs and ropes included in the delivery. The extended length of the extensions is always 200 cm, regardless of the width. Compared to standard awning extensions, this extension has a small curve at the outer end, so that the extension has ideal tension when stretched. This means that it flutters less and withstands stronger winds better. It can be tensioned at an angle or vertically! With an extension that reaches all the way to the ground, you usually feel quite isolated from the surroundings. No wonder, because a completely pulled-down side almost looks like an incomplete awning, but without offering the advantages of an awning. The length is always 200 cm for all of them Material:280 gsm RipStop polycotton (65% polyester / 35% cotton), PU-coated; water and dirt repellent; significantly less fluttering noise due to the comparatively heavy quality. Roof Lodge Evolution 2 – Nakatanenga Roof Tents
We love roof top tents. So much that we build them ourselves. Not because it would be easier, quite the opposite, but because we want to know what leaves our workshop. Two decades of experience in construction, materials, and details go into every model. The result: tents that simply work on expeditions, road trips, or at the campsite.
And because roof top tents are more than just a product to us, we don't just sell the tents themselves. We also share the knowledge: tips, background info, and clear explanations about what really matters when it comes to materials, setup, and care.
There's also a reason these roof tents carry the Made in Germany label. They're put together right here in our facility. Every step can be checked, every detail controlled. That's less about production and more about conviction, because only those who do the work themselves truly know what goes out the door.
Roof Lodge Evolution 2: A Roof Top Tent Made in Germany
Others sell a roof tent where every extra costs extra. With the Roof Lodge Evolution 2, everything a good camping roof tent needs is already included, and with the Evolution 2 Extended, even the annex tent comes standard.
With our roof top tents, you get the full package right out of the box:
- 3D mesh mattress base (10 mm): the cherry on top for sleeping comfort. Smart and comfortable, because it stops condensation between mattress and floor.
- One-piece mattress (60mm thick), available in two firmness levels
- Aluminum ladder
- Ladder leveling feet: for stable footing, even when the ground doesn't want to cooperate.
- LED tent lighting, because headlamps get annoying after a while.
- Roof tent storage net for shoes and small stuff (mounted on the front underside of the honeycomb floor).
- 2 Nakatanenga travel pillows
Our Roof Top Tent Roof Lodge Evolution 2: Two Widths, Two Versions, Two Colors
The Roof Lodge Evolution 2 comes in two widths: 140 or 165 centimeters sleeping area, both with a length of 240 centimeters. Both models are also available as Extended versions. The tent canvas extends to form a canopy over the ladder. The sleeping area stays the same, but the entry stays dry. Combined with the included annex, you can create a protected living space or second sleeping area when needed.
We kept the color choice simple: coyote or dark blue. Because sleeping in a roof tent is wonderful, until the summer morning starts peeking through the tent wall way too early. If you're not ready to greet the day yet, you'll love the Roof Lodge in dark blue. The tent fabric made of 320 g/sqm heavy, PU-coated polycotton keeps light and heat outside. Inside it stays cool and shady, almost like under old beech trees, just with a better view.
The mattress comes from German manufacturing and comes in two versions: soft for that floating-on-clouds feeling, or firm for those who prefer stable sleeping. A 3D base underneath provides ventilation and prevents moisture from collecting, and the two roof windows with mosquito and rain protection let enough air flow so the night doesn't get stuffy.
Annex Tent for the Roof Top Tent Roof Lodge Evolution 2 Extended
The Roof Lodge Evolution 2 Extended comes with an annex tent, or ground tent. Or better said: the protected space under the actual roof tent. Made from 280 g/sqm heavy polycotton, it forms a weatherproof connection between ground and roof top tent. Whether as a changing room, storage space, or as an additional bedroom, the annex turns the roof tent into a small home.
The floor tub made of robust PVC fabric keeps moisture and dirt outside. Windows and doors have tight-mesh mosquito netting.
The ground tent fits the Roof Lodge 140 and 165. With the 165, the tent mounting height can be adjusted from about 170 to 210 cm, with the 140 it's around 200 cm. The base area is about 160 x 200 cm or 180 x 200 cm depending on the model. Enough space to store shoes, bags, or another bed.
By the way, annexes, awnings, and sun protection are all in our category Annexes, Awnings, Sun Protection. Everything that provides shade and keeps you dry, all in one place.

- Height: about 120 cm
- Packed size: 168 x 124 x 40 cm

Roof Tent Roof Lodge Lightweight 140 Basic: The Light All-Rounder
The low roof load of modern vehicles is becoming a real issue. Many current SUVs or station wagons only allow 60 to 80 kilograms on the roof. That's exactly what the ultra-light Roof Lodge Lightweight is for: a full roof top tent that weighs around 46 kilograms total, one of the lightest in its class. Built for those who aren't traveling with a 3-ton off-roader but still don't want to give up comfort, space, or weather protection.
The difference is in the material: 102 g/sqm RipStop nylon instead of 320 g/sqm polycotton. Just as tough but almost 80% lighter than the Roof Lodge Evolution 2. Tent fabric and sun sail are the same material, PU-coated inside and waterproofed outside. This keeps the tent wind and weatherproof, even in rough conditions. Combined with the option of a self-inflating mattress and a removable ladder, the Lightweight saves even more kilos and vehicle height. A real advantage on ferries or in city traffic. This lightweight roof tent comes with four different mattress options, with the inflatable being the lightest. If you need storage space besides sleeping, you can order the matching annex right away.

How to Choose the Best Roof Tent?
The question of the best roof tent can't be answered straight up. It depends on what you need and how you travel. Some helpful questions: How much roof load does my vehicle have? How many people will sleep in the tent? Is one sleeping area enough or do you need room for kids or gear? Are you traveling in areas where weather-protected entry matters? How often will you set up and take down the tent, every weekend or once a year? And finally: Should this be a long-term thing or more of a test run for one or two trips?
Our Roof Lodge Evolution 2 roof tents combine experience, quality, and taking care of the planet. We make them in-house, so every detail stays under control. The result is tough, long-lasting tents with quality materials and short transport routes. For us, that's not just about quality. It's also doing our bit for the environment.
Can You Mount a Roof Tent on a Regular Car?
Yes, a roof tent can usually be mounted on a regular car. What matters is the vehicle's roof load limit and a good roof rack system. Modern station wagons, sedans, or tall wagons usually have a dynamic roof load between 50 and 80 kilograms, which works for many roof tents, especially a light one like the Roof Lodge Lightweight.
Important: the crossbars need to be mounted solid and the load spread evenly. By the way, when parked, the dynamic roof load doesn't matter. The vehicle easily carries the weight of the open tent with people inside.
Are Nakatanenga Roof Tents Good for Four People?
Yes, depending on the model. Our larger roof top tents like the Roof Lodge Evolution 2 in the 165 version offer enough space for two adults and two smaller kids. For longer trips or when you need more room to move, go for the Extended model with ground tent. This gives you an extra protected sleeping or living space right under the roof tent.
If you're traveling as four, watch the width: 140 cm is perfect for two adults, 165 cm works with a family, especially when the kids are still small or you use the ground tent too.
What Does a Roof Tent Weigh?
That depends on the model and what comes with it. Our Roof Lodge roof tents weigh between around 46 kilograms for the Lightweight and about 66 kilograms for the Evolution 2 Extended 165, including mattress, ladder, and protective cover.
What really matters is what your vehicle can carry. Modern cars often only allow 60 to 80 kilograms on the roof. That's where the Lightweight with its low weight is perfect. When parked, total weight doesn't matter because the vehicle carries tent and sleepers no problem.
Can You Use a Roof Tent in Winter or Bad Weather?
Absolutely. Our Roof Lodge roof tents are built for any weather, rain, wind, or freezing temps included. The tent walls made of tough polycotton keep moisture out while keeping things comfortable inside. Even in frost it stays cozy if you're prepared: A good mattress base, a sleeping bag rated for cold, and if you want it really warm, you can rent or buy one of our mobile heaters in an aluminum box.
Our heater boxes with the Autoterm Air 2D bring warm air right into the roof tent, work reliably even at high altitude, and keep you comfortable even in deep winter. So camping becomes a year-round thing. No freezing required.
Where Can You Rent a Roof Tent?
A roof tent isn't something you buy on a whim. It needs some thought. After all, it becomes a travel companion, not a weekend toy. If you're not sure yet whether life above ground is your thing, or if you just need a roof top tent for a few days, you can simply rent one from Nakatanenga and try it out.
A little hint from experience: Three out of four rental roof tents don't find their way back to our warehouse because they stay right on the new owner's roof. So watch out. Once you borrow one of our roof tents, you usually don't want to give it back. Of course, there's good advice beforehand, whether for renting or buying. Because finding the right roof tent is almost as important as picking your destination. If you want to rent a roof tent, here's all the info.
Where Can You Get Your Roof Tent Installed?
Easiest is right here with us. We install all Nakatanenga Roof Lodge roof tents professionally in-house, with or without instruction if you want. This way the tent sits secure for sure, and with the instruction option you get tips on handling, care, and mounting on other vehicles too.
Installation is a fixed price, no matter how long it takes. Important: The installation fee is just for the work. The roof tent itself is ordered separately. Here's all the info about roof tent installation.
If the trip to Neumarkt is too far, check the dealer map, marked with orange pins, for our Roof Lodge support points, dealers, and installation partners all over Germany. Only here and there you'll still see a blank spot on the map. A chance for anyone who likes getting their hands dirty and has maybe been thinking about how to combine a passion for roof tents with solid work. Sound like you?
Can You Mount a Roof Tent on a Trailer?
Yes, that works great and is actually pretty clever. If you want to keep your vehicle flexible or use different cars often, you can just mount the roof tent on a sturdy trailer. What matters is that the trailer frame is strong enough and the mounting height fits so the ladder stands secure.
Many people use the trailer as a small base station with a roof top tent on top, storage space underneath, and maybe even one of our mobile heaters in an aluminum box or water solutions on board. This turns a simple trailer into a complete mini-camper that you can park or unhook in no time. We've already done some work in that direction, so if you're planning something like that, give us a call.
