Nakatanenga Cable Set for Winch Mounting in Land Rover Defender
Nakatanenga cable set winch mounting in Defender In order to facilitate the installation of the winch in the Defender and to minimise sources of error, we have a complete cable set for this purpose mass-produced by a cable harness manufacturer. The cable lengths are adapted to the installation situation in the Land Rover Defender 90/110/130. Due to the cable cross-section of 50 mm², even high currents can be transmitted safely, so that enough current reaches the cable winch and is not converted into heat in the cable. Delivery includes tubular cable lug M10 and battery pole clamp minus M10, for mounting on the vehicle's wiring.

Winch rope 10 mm x 30 m Steel or synthetics? With winch ropes that is often something of a religious question. However, the trend is now quite clearly to high-performance synthetic fibers, the steel in the ratio strength to weight are often superior and otherwise bring in handling many benefits. The advantages of our 30 m synthetic rope compared to steel are manifold, but above all there are two main arguments: safety and weight. When steel cables break, heavy, sharp-edged metal lashes through the air uncontrollably, causing damage and the worst possible injuries. Should our new 2.3 kg light rope really reach the 9.5 t breaking load once, the ends will simply fall to the ground. Even when handling the steel cable, cuts caused by loose or broken wires are not uncommon, but excluded in synthetics. In addition, the much lighter Dyneem rope not only relieves the operator, the car also benefits in terms of statics and driving characteristics. Synthetic ropes are low maintenance, washable, easy to roll up and down due to low friction, and are less sensitive to UV, chemical and oil products, abrasion and fatigue due to kinking than many other synthetic fibers. They absorb hardly any water and are extremely flexible with a low length elasticity of around 5%. The high-quality workmanship of our synthetic rope is shown in detail:To accommodate the pull hook in the eye splice, the 12mm thimble is made of stainless steel, as well as the 7 mm eyelet for attachment to the winch. Additional protection against frictional heat and abrasion is provided by polyester protective sleeves on both ends of the rope. Nakatanenga pulley for plastic ropes, with and without soft shackles
Anyone who has opted for high-performance synthetic materials for mountain equipment will benefit from cascading solutions. One steel part after the other can be replaced in the module chain with lightweight and synthetics. With the decision to use a synthetic winch rope, the classic deflection pulley, with its wearing parts, the high weight and the tendency to get stuck, also had its day. With so-called NMP pulleys - "No Moving Parts" - nothing rolls anymore. In principle, it is only a rope guide block, through which synthetic ropes glide easily, even under high loads, due to the low frictional resistance. This does NOT work with steel cables! Our Nakatanenga Heavy Duty pulley made of hard anodized aluminum for ropes from 8-14 mm is manufactured according to military standard MIL-A-8625F TYPE III, has a breaking load of 18 t and weighs only 1.65 kg. The large radius of the "reel" is particularly important in the off-road area, since dirt and foreign objects cannot easily affect the cable routing. The NMP roll is fastened with the supplied 10 mm thick soft shackle with a breaking strength of up to 12 t, optionally in gray or orange. You can also order the pulley individually, without shackles.

Efficient and robust folding pulley for safe and easy recovery You should have at least one quality snatch block pulley in your winching kit at all times. Most often, you will use it when there are no straight lines in which you can tow your vehicle, but in any case, the snatch block doubles the towing force. That means winching your trapped vehicle free becomes easier and the winch itself is put under less strain while doing so. Our new foldable Nakatanenga snatch block utilizes the familiar pulley principle, but in our development process we focused on the best choice of materials, on high-end production and on improving usually overlooked details. Snatch blocks have to be solid, light-weight, universally applicable, smooth-running and easy to clean. Our construction from exceptionally sturdy 6 mm galvanized steel and a 15 mm polymer reel suits any kind of winch line with a diameter of 8 – 13 mm: plastic, plasma or steel. The snatch block doesn’t need any maintenance or servicing other than cleaning it after use. Even when using it with steel cable, it doesn’t need to be lubricated. The choice of polymer synthetics for the reel makes it smooth-running with any choice of cable or rope. The workload of the block is 9000 lbs or over 4 t, the breaking load is 19.300 lbs or over 8.7 t. The compact, foldable design of the snatch block guarantees solidity, easy stowability and a low weight of only 2,30 kg – ensuring that it fits into any travel 4x4 or expedition vehicle that’s already stuffed to the roof. As accessories we recommend our Nakatanenga winch straps/tree trunk protectors and soft shackles. And finally, about the details: in contrast to many other snatch blocks, we have actually improved the metal side plates and the eyes. Both have folded, rounded edges that make them not only easier and safer to handle and less prone to shifting abruptly as the rope is tightening but first and foremost it prevents synthetic ropes from chafing or having fibers or strands damaged. Strong window for strong ropes In the module chain from the winch to the hook, winch windows play an important but often underestimated part. Once you have opted for ultra-light but high-strength synthetic mountain equipment, the rope windows are indispensable for safe and comfortable use. But winch window is not the same as winch window: a quality product improves handling and extends the service life of the ropes even more. That's why we now set up our own Nakatanenga winch window made of hard anodized aluminum. Harteloxal is an electrolytically produced outer layer which, in addition to improved wear, corrosion and UV protection, also achieves excellent sliding properties. With these characteristics, the rope window conforms to military standard MIL-A-8625F TYPE III. In addition, our winch window is also significantly lower than many other products on the market. This guarantees a smaller bending angle when the rope is rolled up. This protects the synthetic fibers and ensures that dirt is wiped well before the rope winds on the roll.
