Aluminum telescopic upright poles 93-280 cm, black anodized Every seasoned camper knows: there’s nothing more annoying than flimsy poles for tents, canvasses, awnings, tarps, etc. Whether it’s the setting up, the packing or simply the first strong breeze, there’s a lot of bother guaranteed when you’re stuck with basic multi-part poles, even when they feature small locking mechanisms or flexible cord connections. If you want to set up your camp efficiently, quickly and as stable as possible, our highly robust and practical telescopic poles made of high-strength, black anodized aluminum 6063 are the solution for you. Our poles feature 4 telescopic expansions and can be locked to any length between 93 and 280 cm. This will work perfectly from small bivouac tarps to large awnings on camper vans. Sense and purpose of an awning compact extension? Glare protection when the sun is low in the skyThe compact extension was developed directly from practical requirements - a nice formulation that in itself means nothing more than: "We were so annoyed and dazzled by the low sun one fine day that we wanted to remedy the situation." And already the initial question is actually fully answered. But that would only be half the truth. On the following picture you can see an awning without extension shown above: As the sun sinks (the same applies in the morning, of course - but for the sake of clarity we will limit ourselves here to the afternoon or evening situation), the light falls further and further under the awning. At a certain position of the sun, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person - from now on, the sun can dazzle until it sets. The illustration below shows an awning with a compact extension, which offers several advantages with its angled bracing: When the sun is high, a much larger area is shaded.Only when the sun is setting, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person. Annex for Roof Lodge Evolution 2, Basic, nylon, stone grey
The Roof Lodge Evolution awning ... which can also be used on many roof tents from other manufacturers. The widespread term <awning> is somewhat misleading in itself, as it has always been more of a hanging tent in which you can quickly and easily store camping equipment such as a table and chairs, the little ones' toys and a pint of beer. This not only applies to tidying up in the evening, but also in the event of a downpour. What's more, the fact that these items are no longer immediately visible makes them a little safer from theft. We also like to refer to this awning simply as a <shower curtain>. This name also gives you an idea of the actual size of the hanging tents. This is always 120 cm in depth and 140 cm or 165 cm depending on the tent width. This makes them significantly larger than most showers, but still smaller than what many people imagine. However, if the roof tent is installed at a sufficient height, you have a space that can also be used comfortably for changing. These awnings were and are less suitable for use in bad weather. This results in a requirement profile for them that is completely different from that of the floor tents of the extended tents. As the awning's tent character is clearly in the background, we have given it some thought and completely redesigned it according to its use. They are now made from the same material that we already use for our LIGHTWEIGHT - T109 ripstop nylon with Oxford weave. This material is surprisingly strong for its surprisingly low weight of just 102 g/m² and is the obvious choice for use in an awning. As awnings, like ground tents, usually have to be transported in the vehicle, the pack size is not insignificant. The fact that the usual voluminous and heavy PVC groundsheet has been replaced by a thin and light tarpaulin means that the pack size of the awning can almost be described as tiny. Due to the type of use, elaborate window constructions are as pointless as spikes for ballerinas - nobody uses them. Of course, windows do have a right to exist in hanging tents; after all, you can not only see outside through them, they also let light into the tent. But this is where the T109 ripstop nylon comes into play again: this material has good light permeability, which puts the question of windows to rest once and for all. The entrance is usually located behind the ladder, which literally stands in the way of quickly stowing away the equipment. That's why we decided not to have an entrance. Some people will now say that Nakatanenga have definitely overshot the mark. But we simply questioned the design of the usual entrances with the entrance fabric, mosquito net and zippers and found that they were not necessary. Our awning therefore doesn't have an ENTRANCE, but of course there is an ACCESS - in fact several. The awning is fitted with zippers at all 4 corners. These can be used to separate the side walls from each other and thus not only determine the access as desired. You can also roll up one or all of the side walls. In the evening, for example, all you need to do is place the table and chairs on the tarpaulin, unroll the side walls and close the zippers. And the awning also offers real added value: the side tent walls also have two eyelets on the underside. The side walls can either be tensioned at an angle or extended using optional telescopic poles. This creates a rain-protected or shaded area of just under 5.5 by 1.2 meters. The awnings are suitable for all roof tents of the appropriate size that use the edge profiles shown on the Roof Lodge Evolution and LIGHTWEIGHT information pages. The front sections are crammed into the top of the awning and attached to the side of the pole poles (see pictures). The side panels are attached to the horizontal aluminium poles at the top and to the pole poles at the side. The side panels are suitable for all awning widths. We offer the side panels in pairs, the front panels individually. This practical extension for our awnings is ideal for travel and holidays and offers ideal protection from the sun, evening cold, rain and wind. It significantly increases the utility value of the Nakatanenga awning. The fabric is made of sturdy RipStop nylon (600den, with PU coating) and is therefore largely safe from mould and mildew stains. Side panel for Nakatanenga Evolution2 Awning Roof-mounted car awnings like our EVO II are a great pieces of equipment if you want to turn your 4x4 or van into a quickly set up mobile camp. But proper protection from wind, weather, sun and unwanted attention comes only with the addition of side walls. Conditions vary from location to location and even throughout a single day: the sun is moving from east to west and the wind is changing directions, too. By the sea, it becomes a lot stronger in the evenings and carries dust, sand and the occasional shower. But aside from weather protection, the side tarps also create valuable privacy in crowded camp grounds and other popular locations. Our side walls come in pairs and are the best solution for all these challenges. Simply stick the velcro fasteners to the roof awning’s frame and fasten the tarps to the ground using the four included tent pegs. All of that is simply a question of minutes and if the wind, the sun or a new location demand a change in position you can easily swap the sidewalls to accommodate the situation. The two side wall tarps are made from high quality PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blended fabric containing 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This highly functional material is extremely resistant to tearing, it is water and dirt repellent and due to its high specific weight of 280 g/ m2 the material will make less noise in the wind. The tarp’s inner side features a layer of aluminum to assist in regulating temperature and to diffuse and amplify low intensity light sources like candles, camping lanterns etc. Color:Stone gray. Roof Lodge Evolution II — Straight or 270° awning
The Roof Lodge Evolution II off-road awning comes in two versions: classic straight and a 270-degree awning for all-round shade and rain protection. As a straight bag awning it’s the perfect travel companion: quick to deploy, reliably shields from sun and rain, and even ideal for a short lunch stop. The base rail is designed to fit like a glove not only on the CargoBear but also on many other roof racks.
The classic version
The straight version is available in three widths: 140, 200 and 250 cm, all with a 200 cm projection. The aluminium poles extend to 2.20 m, covering vans, 4x4s and caravans with ease. Poles and guy lines are attached to the awning so they simply fold out during setup. Additional side poles provide even more stability.
All-round protection: the 270-degree awning
The Roof Lodge Evolution II 270-degree awning is available for either the left or right vehicle side. Two quick-attach side walls are already included. Fully extended the awning measures 4.35 m and creates around 9 m² of covered space. It is 2.35 m along the vehicle side and 2.13 m at the rear. For even more protection, add two additional side panels and turn the porch into an outdoor living room. The big advantage: the rear area of the vehicle—where cooking usually happens—stays covered and usable, whether it’s raining or blazing hot.
Smart fabric
Both awnings are made from 280 g/m² ripstop polycotton (65% polyester, 35% cotton). The fabric is water- and dirt-repellent, extremely tear-resistant and pleasantly quiet in the wind thanks to its weight. A polyurethane coating acts like an ultra-thin, flexible umbrella: it keeps rain out while letting air through so things don’t feel stuffy.
The neat trick: the compact extension
Here’s what many others don’t have: our arched compact extension. It was born on one of those evenings when the low sun had everyone squinting. Instead of turning the awning into a dark cave with a full side wall, this sun sail slides into the keder rail. Result: protection from low sun without losing that open summer-evening feeling.

Front panel for Evolution 2 awnings
If the compact extension isn’t enough and you want to almost double the area of the straight awning, choose the front panel. It protects from wind and rain, can be pitched with optional telescopic poles, and expands the shaded area. Made from heavy PU-coated ripstop polycotton (280 g/m²), it flutters very little, reflects light and heat, and still packs small. It also fits many other awnings with a keder rail. Available widths: 140 cm, 200 cm and 250 cm.
Mosquito net for awnings
Sometimes it’s neither rain nor sun but mosquitoes that ruin the evening. Whether in Scotland or Scandinavia: with our mosquito net for awnings, pests stay out. The net comes in 2x2 m or 3x3 m. It fits common awnings with front and side poles and attaches with hook-and-loop straps. Roof and side panels create an enclosed, airy space where you can relax in the evening—without itching or buzzing.

The Evolution annex is a lightweight clip-in tent that mounts to the keder rail and, with 120 cm depth, provides enough space to store chairs, a table or boxes out of the weather. Thanks to zippers at all corners, access is flexible; side walls can be rolled up or pitched with telescopic poles. Made from ultra-light yet robust T109 ripstop nylon, it packs tiny and is quick to handle. Fits all Nakatanenga rooftop tents with four keder rails and comparable designs from other brands (e.g. Front Runner Feather-Lite and Horntools tents). Perfect for anyone seeking a compact annex for the Evolution or similar tents.
Roof Lodge small annex, Basic 2 version
The improved Basic 2 annex offers much more flexibility. Robust PU-coated 600 den nylon provides protection; side panels can also be rolled up or pitched as small awnings with optional telescopic poles. It quickly becomes a breezy shade spot. Available for 140 cm and 165 cm wide rooftop tents and in Oxide, Sand and Reed Green, this model suits anyone wanting more than a simple weather shield.
Roof Lodge car ground/annex tent for Extended 140
The Roof Lodge ground/annex tent is the add-on for older Roof Lodge Extended 140 models (not compatible with the Evolution series). It zips in and creates over 5 m² of extra living space with a fixed floor, entrance, vehicle pass-through and two windows. Ideal for longer stays, changing or extra storage—almost a separate room under the rooftop tent. Designed for vehicles with 150 cm mounting height, it can be adapted to taller vehicles with extension strips.
Roof Lodge small annex for Basic rooftop tent
The classic small annex for Roof Lodge Basic reliably protects from wind, rain and prying eyes. It attaches to the keder rail, is made from PU-coated 600 den nylon and is available in Sand and Reed Green. Suitable for 165 cm wide tents, it offers straightforward protection with a compact pack size. Originally designed for our first Roof Lodge tents, it also fits other tents with four keder rails and comparable designs (e.g. our new Roof Lodge Evolution tents, Front Runner Feather tents and Horntools).
Useful accessories for awnings and annexes
A real game changer is the suction cup with fixed mounting ring. Sometimes you need an anchor where nothing else sticks. Place it on a smooth, clean surface, tension it—and it holds. Whether for annex, tarp or other outdoor hacks: the suction cup carries up to 10 kg, holds reliably without screws and weighs only 240 g at 115 mm diameter. It’s especially handy if there’s no roof rack and you want to secure the end of a 270-degree awning to the vehicle.

Does the Nakatanenga off-road awning fit roof racks other than CargoBear?
Yes. Roof Lodge Evolution II awnings are designed to mount not only to the CargoBear but also to many common roof racks. The base rail sits stable and secure on 4x4s, vans and caravans. For special vehicles like Defender, Mercedes G, Ineos Grenadier, Suzuki Jimny II or the New Defender there are dedicated CargoBear mounts. If your rack has no slot, simply use the universal mounting kit.
Do I need extra brackets, or is everything included?
Roof Lodge Evolution II awnings already include brackets to mount to standard roof racks. Usually, no additional accessories are required. Special mounts such as the CargoBear brackets are only relevant if your vehicle is equipped with a CargoBear rack. For exotic rack shapes, the universal mounting kit is available.
Do the compact extension or front panel work with other awning brands?
Yes. Both the compact extension and the front panel can be used with many other brands. The only requirement is a free keder rail in the front profile. If it’s missing, a keder rail can be retrofitted.
How do I attach the annex to the rooftop tent?
It depends on the model: The Evolution annex attaches via keder rail; the small annexes for Roof Lodge Basic do as well. These create a light, airy porch. The Roof Lodge car ground/annex tent for Extended 140 models, on the other hand, zips in directly, forming a closed room with floor, windows and pass-through—almost like a separate room under the tent.
