Nakatanenga CargoBear 2.0 | Lightweight. Strong. Clever for Mercedes G
Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well.
How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably.
The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s center of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself.
Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation. The long G-Class will finally get a CargoBear with four crossbars.
And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications.
The CargoBear does NOT fit the Mercedes G model W465 from model year 2024!

Self-adhesive anti-slip pads Perforated metal sheets, as used on our CargoBear roof racks, on ladders, steps and other climbing aids on vehicles, are much safer than regular metal surfaces. Additional anti-slip pads, however, offer an unbeatable safety advantage, especially in wet or dirty conditions. The anti-slip pads are designed to perfectly match the hole patterns and due to its black color, they also compliment the overall look of our products. The material for the pads originates in the sports sector and has been widely used on skateboards, for example. For the CargoBear, we offer ready-cut, self-adhesive anti-slip pads measuring 16 x 24 cm individually or in sets of 3, 6 or 12. Please note: the multi-packs provide increasing savings regarding the price per item. Since the pads are manufactured with in-house laser cutting technology, we can supply custom formats on request.

Nakatanenga CargoBear Mounting brackets for Awnings The CargoBear awning holder allows you to mount numerous awnings on the CargoBear roof rack for Defender and on the CargoBear roof rack for Mercedes G. It is suitable for the following awning models, among others: RoofLodge Awnings RhinoRack Foxwing RhinoRack SunSeeker At least two CargoBear cross bars are required for assembly. The 4-piece set is supplied including the necessary assembly material for attaching the awning holder to the CargoBear roof rack. Fixing material for the awning is not included. The awning holder is made of stainless steel. It can be used on all CargoBear carriers with 30° feet (e.g. Land Rover Defender or Mercedes G). More grip, less risk - rubber cover profiles for the Nakatanenga CargoBear How do you improve the CargoBear? By clicking our rubber covers into fully or partially unused lashing openings in the rack. With our 30 mm wide and 10 cm long strips, you can quickly and securely seal the gaps. The rubber covers give you a whole range of noticeable advantages. Firstly, they improve load safety on the already very slip resistant CargoBear even further. When you position the cargo on top of the rubber strips, the ribbed surface structure prevents the lashed down cargo from sliding. A second effect is created by the rubbers’ added height of 3.5 mm, which lifts the cargo off the actual rack, preventing scratching or damages to both. And last but not least, the covers also prevent vegetation from getting trapped or stuck in the sideways rails when off-roading. The covers sport rounded edges for a better fit. The rubber cover strips for the CargoBear can be ordered in sets of 6 or 24 respectively. One crossbar requires a set of 6 for Defender, Jimny or G-Class. A set of 24 covers one cargo panel with the above-mentioned 4x4s, i.e. the minimum configuration of 2 cross bars and one panel requires 2 sets of 6 and one set of 24. Fastening set for AluBoxes on Nakatanenga CargoBear 1.0 and 2.0 Probably the easiest and safest way to mount an AluBox on CargoBear 1 or 2: Our customised fastening solution consists of 4 brackets that screw the box base firmly to the roof rack from the inside. This not only serves to secure the box for transport, but also prevents it from being quickly stolen on the road when it is locked. Mounting the brackets is child's play. Apart from the tools, everything you need is included. You can download detailed instructions from our web shop, where you will of course also find a large selection of matching aluminium boxes.

As always, we make sure our products are stored, handled and shipped with the utmost care. Aluminum boxes, however, can always show minimal scratches, dull spots, blemishes, small dents or other superficial marks on delivery. These are solely due to the specific properties of the material. On contact with atmospheric oxygen, aluminum develops a natural, anti-corrosion patina. Three times lighter than steel, it is also considerably softer, making it the perfect material for metal sheets, especially when weight and durability are important. The flip side of these properties, though, means that aluminum can never be entirely free of scratches, blemishes etc. This is why these surface marks do not constitute grounds for customer complaints. After all, aluminum boxes are meant to be rugged items for heavy duty use and every mark tells a story. With that in mind, we hope you get the most out of your boxes!
