The areas around the doors are corrosion hotbeds in a Defender. Even though this is a well-known fact, the rust remains very often undetected and keeps eating into structural components and body panels. The doors feature many corners, angles and surfaces that constantly trap water and wet dirt. Screw fittings, rivets, welding points, the combination of different materials like steel, aluminum and rubber as well as mechanical stress often exacerbate the problem. If you are facing large scale restoration work in your 4/5 door Defender, you might consider whether a complete replacement of B and C pillars as well as the door sill isn’t the cheaper, quicker and most of all more thorough solution. We are offering entire sets for the right or left side of all models where door seals are only pushed in and not riveted. If you have riveted seals, they need to be adapted.
