In the Nakatanenga winch bundle for the Land Rover Defender, you get everything you need for safe and reliable self or third-party recovery:
The basis is the proven Nakatanenga NAWIBU2 winch bumper, which is equally suitable for Defender with or without air conditioning. The bumper, which is manufactured locally for us, is powder-coated black and reliably protects the front of the vehicle even during tough off-road use. The raised corners of the bumper improve the vehicle's slope angle. The two integrated, swivelling recovery eyes are ideal for self-recovery and recovery by others - or for hooking in the pulley, which is also supplied and doubles the pulling force of the winch or makes difficult recoveries possible in the first place. The design of the winch bumper allows for easy registration by means of a fee-based individual approval.
There is the optional possibility of mounting two 70 mm spotlights recessed - so they are optimally protected against damage in the terrain. We use modern LED driving lights from Nolden, which provide excellent light with low power consumption (only 1.1 A per headlight). They have an E-mark and can therefore be used without registration. In order to harmonise with any existing Nolden Bi-LED main headlights, the auxiliary driving lamps are available in black or chrome-coloured optics.
The 12 V Superwinch electric winch Tiger Shark 11500 / 9500 has a two-stage planetary gearbox.
The winch is equipped with an automatic load holding brake with mechanical cone brake for large loads and a freewheel clutch for pulling the rope by hand. The Superwinch Tiger Shark 11.5 / 9.5 electric winch has waterproof sealed relays for high electrical currents, allowing longer duty cycles.
It is used for commercial recovery of rolling loads.

The winches have a synthetic fibre rope made of high-strength fibre instead of the conventional steel rope. This is not only much lighter (and thus benefits the handling and efficiency of the vehicle), but also much safer to use. In the event of tearing, it does not become a dangerous projectile - rather, it simply falls to the ground. In fact, it is so light that it floats! It also drastically reduces the risk of injury from protruding strand ends. The flat Nakatanenga rope window again saves weight compared to conventional roller rope windows, is gentler on the rope and protrudes less.
Depending on the vehicle version and winch type, it may be necessary to adapt the radiator grille.
The winch bundle is rounded off by a useful accessory bag containing a high-strength tree anchor strap, two shackles, the above-mentioned pulley and a pair of Nakatanenga work gloves.

The cable winch bundle does not come with an ABE or expert opinion for the bumper. Registration as an "equipment carrier cable winch" is possible at numerous test centres without any problems by means of individual acceptance for which a charge is made. We recommend prior consultation with the local, authorised test engineer - or alternatively registration in our company. For this purpose, we require the vehicle with mounted bumper incl. cable winch on site. You can also mount the bumper yourself - we will then take care of the registration! We will charge you for the TÜV fees - according to our experience 100-150 EUR - as well as the working time of approx. 1 hour.

For the care of the plastic winch rope and to extend its service life, we recommend the appropriate impregnation spray. For intensive and frequent use of the winch, we recommend the use of the Nakatanenga double battery system with 160Ah total capacity.

Remote switch - Carlingtech Contura For safety reasons, it is advisable to switch off the electric winch on the off-roader and only switch it on when needed. This is usually done with a disconnect switch in the engine compartment, so that awkward handling is necessary when you want to start the winch. With the switching relay and the switch supplied, this can be done conveniently from the driver's seat without having to lay the winch's power cables there. Only two thin wires are needed, the required switch is included in the delivery, the switching relay is mounted in the engine compartment. It has an additional switch directly on the relay housing and does not consume any power when it is not being switched. A recessed labelling field allows easy identification of the relay. The switch is a very high quality Carlingtech Contura switch (waterproof to IP67 standard), this fits seamlessly into our mounting frames or various consoles such as in the Land Rover Defender TD4 or other vehicles. The relay is designed for a continuous load of 500 A, please check if this is suitable for your winch. According to the manufacturer, a Warn 9.5XP requires 425 A, a Tabor 12K 457 A and the Warn 8274-50 450 A. Accessory kit for winches Whether as an accessories kit for winching enthusiasts or as handy emergency pack on overlanding trips, our Nakatanenga winching packages contain everything you need when you’re stuck in a rut. You have the choice between a steel version, primarily for steel cables, or the lightweight pack made from synthetics and aluminum, exclusively designed for synthetic winch ropes. Both varieties basically consist of the same components: two recovery straps, a pulley or block, shackles, protective gloves and a bag. The steel rope kit contains two steel shackles, a foldable snatch block with a work load WLL of 3.5 tons and a shoulder bag made from 100 % cotton. The synthetic kit boasts an NMP pulley made from Eloxal coated aluminum, three soft shackles and the Nakatanenga tool bag coated in robust and waterresistant Nylon PU. Straps Key items in the accessory kits are two 77 mm wide, high quality recovery straps. Made from polyamides, these straps come in lengths of 2 and 8 m and have a breaking strength of up to 9 tons. By design, the short strap is also a perfect tree trunk protector. FYI: The long strap is a new addition to the steel set and does not fit the cotton bag. It has to be stored separately. Shackles The recovery straps feature end loops strengthened by machine sewn Polyester coats. The 10 mm soft shackles in orange or gray are fixed through these end loops or “eyes”. The kit contains two soft shackles for this purpose and another one to fix the NMP block. The synthetic shackles are ultra-light and with a breaking strength of up to 12 t extremely loadable. As always, synthetics means little danger of injury, easy handling, no corrosion and no damaging of vehicle and equipment. The steel kit on the other hand uses traditional steel shackles with screw bolts. Pulleys The pulleys or blocks in the two kits differ considerably in design, material and usage. In the synthetics kit, the NMP block made from hard, Eloxal coated aluminum is fixed by a soft shackle and is exclusively meant to be used with plastic winch ropes of 8 to 14 mm thickness. Produced to military standards, this block has a breaking strength of 18 t and weighs only 1.65 kg. WARNING: Again, the NMP pulley must not be used with steel cables. If you are using steel cables, please choose the other kit with the metal snatch block. Our construction of high-strength 6 mm galvanised steel and a 15 mm polymer pulley accepts any type of mountain rope between 8 - 13 mm: Synthetic, plasma and steel ropes.The working load of the pulley is 9,000 lbs or just over 4 t, the breaking load is 19,300 lbs or over 8.7 t and is best suited for steel ropes. Bags The synthetics kit comes in our robust, high quality Nakatanenga tool bag. It’s flexible, very lightweight and uses just as much storage space as the actual contents. That makes it ideal for quick, compact packing and easy transport of all your winching and recovery equipment. Shackles and smaller item fit into separate pockets inside. The steel kit can be stowed in the cotton shoulder bag, with the exception of the long strap. Gloves Last but not least, both sets come with a pair of protective gloves, made from elastic synthetic materials. These sturdy gloves feature grippy Almara plastic leather in the palm area and are not available separately, unlike the rest of the contents.
