Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably.  The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s centre of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation.  And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications.  PLEASE NOTE: In Defender with pop-up roof / lift roof, the original roof is often shortened. If necessary, the roof rack then does not fit. Please measure beforehand or contact us in advance if you have any questions. Aluminum cases Pro There are many aluminum cases, but just one “Alubox”. The Wiberg family’s business on Zealand in Denmark has been supplying the Danish military, various rescue services, international expeditions and the off-road community since 1999 with tough, handmade transport cases made from aluminum alloy AW-5754. As you would expect from real Vikings, Danish Aluboxes are seawater resistant. In addition, they can be padlocked, are dust-proof and highly resistant to corrosion and chemicals. The Wibergs’ experience and their commitment to continuously improve the Aluboxes show in the details: extra-robust and impact-proof stacking corners provide tight connections when you put several boxes on top of each other. Spring handles retract, so they’re never sticking out as dangerous obstacles‚ causing damages or injuries. Aluboxes are now made with solid rivets for even greater robustness and durability, even in extreme conditions. The new transport box for the 30-second touring tents by OZtents was developed by Soren Wiberg, who is a big fan of Land Rovers and camping. That’s why he saw right away that the somewhat flimsy OZtent carry bag needs to be improved upon. With packing dimensions of roughly 2 m, OZtents are usually too long to be stowed inside smaller 4x4s. The new Alubox measures 2130 x 510 x 220 mm, making it the ideal storage space for OZtent models RV1, RV2, RV3, RV4 und RV5. The transport case is designed for roof racks, like our very own CargoBear. And if you can fit a tent in your Alubox, you can also fit many other long and unwieldy pieces of equipment: shovels, sand ladders, snow chains and everything else that’s needed on expeditions and camping trips. One more thing: The Wiberg Vikings’ Alubox slogan is “Battered, beaten and still going strong.“  And that’s how we see it, too, when it comes to aluminum cases. Dents, scratches and bruises are at the end of the day part of the deal. They speak of your adventures and that’s why we keep unnecessary and environmentally harmful packaging to a minimum when we are shipping them. On contact with atmospheric oxygen, aluminum develops a natural, anti-corrosion patina.  Three times lighter than steel, it is also considerably softer, making it the perfect material for metal sheets, especially when weight and durability are important. The flip side of these properties, though, means that aluminum can never be entirely free of scratches, blemishes etc. This is why these surface marks do not constitute grounds for customer complaints. Handle for Nakatanenga CargoBear roof rack system Do you already have a CargoBear roof rack? Then you have probably used the mounting rail as a handle. This is unpleasant and you can easily hurt yourself - as we know from personal experience.That's why we decided to offer a suitable handle for the Cargobear. They are very useful for little effort - the handle is easy and quick to install. So easy and so ingenious! The stainless steel mounting kit Is for mounting various brackets on the CargoBear system roof rack or on the Cargobear crossbar - e.g. the CargoBear quick mounting frame is attached with this mounting kit (the mounting kit is already included with the quick mounting frame). The kit consists of 4 stainless steel sliding blocks with matching M8 stainless steel screws. The long screw makes installation easier, as the sliding block can be easily positioned with it (see 2nd and 3rd picture).
