The deep black, high-quality powder-coated CargoBear modules made of aluminum-magnesium alloy are manufactured entirely in Germany. The bear’s skeleton is made up of either two or three crossbeams. The beams also work by themselves as roof racks. Two panels fit each segment between a pair of crossbars, creating either a short or a full platform over the entire length of the roof. An accompanying wind deflector at the front further improves the aerodynamics of the roof rack, which is already very flat, and offers the possibility of mounting the Osram SX180 or SX300 light bars via special holes. For the rear, an end carrier is included for mounting additional headlights, handles or other accessories. The modular structure over the entire area allows for a flexible yet precise arrangement of lashing points, thereby making your roof load much more secure. Fittings are inserted in the lashing grid on the side or on top of the rack. Single stud fittings are recommended for lighter loads. If it gets heavier, choose ring fittings with double studs. As the name implies, two studs instead of one are inserted into the lashing grid, effectively halving the forces exerted on each point in the grid. The CargoBear’s panels feature a perforated non-slip design, contributing further to your load safety. The modules are supplied with all the necessary fastening material. Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably. The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s centre of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation. And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications. Nakatanenga CargoBear cross bars There’s only one real alternative for the full CargoBear roof rack: the CargoBear cross bars on their own! If you don’t need the entire cargo platform on your New Defender, because you carry only long work equipment or sports gear like surfboards, skis or kayaks, the cross bars alone will do the job perfectly. The same applies for roof tent campers. For the new 110 Landy this means that the standard setup consists of 3 cross beams for the entire length of the roof. The sturdy bars will give you a roof rack that is significantly more robust than any off-the-shelf rooftop carrier. The cross bars are available single or as sets of 2 or 3. They are 100% identical to the ones we sell in the CargoBear kits, i.e. they are 1,450 mm wide (1,300 mm usable) and 120 mm long. The aluminum bars feature stainless steel bases that connect to the standard roof rail via inserted sliding blocks (included). As with the complete CargoBear platform, the bars can be mounted on two height levels, 80 or 100 mm respectively. Choosing the higher level will ensure that your roof window retains its full functionality. The crossbars feature a very wear and tear resistant matte black RAL 9005 powder-coating. A great number of recessed lashing slots allow you to attach lashing rings, brackets, hooks, stud fittings etc. You can also attach your lashing straps directly, of course. The material for the pads originates in the sports sector and has been widely used on skateboards, for example. Seat cover for Land Rover New Defender 110/130, driver and passenger side This isn’t off-the-peg, this is made to measure! If you’re looking for seat covers for the New Defender – the front seats to be precise – look no further than our seat protectors made from durable, and easy-to-clean 1000D Nylon 6.6. The seat covers were developed by us in our own tailor's workshop – guaranteeing highest functionality and best workmanship. To ensure maximum comfort and compatibility with the climate technologies in your seats, the covers feature breathable mesh fabric on the actual sitting surface. And even though it is mesh, it will still protect the seat from dirt and moisture. To achieve a perfect fit, the one-piece cover is tightly tailored and does not require zippers or similar. Simply pull it over the seat, Velcro the top part underneath the headrest and close the sturdy straps and buckles on the underside. Additionally, a mesh pocket with a rubber foam piece inside is wedged into the gap between backrest and seat surface to prevent the cover from sliding. On the sides, openings in the cover allow easy access to the headrest controls. As with all our textile products, we always aim to add additional storage space. Generously sized MOLLE patches on the sides as well as large pockets in the rear of the backrest and the front rail of the seat make it very easy to store everyday items and small pieces of equipment temporarily or permanently. This article was designed in our in-house tailor shop. A dedicated team and short distances allow for continuous quality control and further development of our textile products. And if you already have a tailor's workshop in house, then it is easy to also accept customer change requests, special designs, suggestions and proposals for improvement at short notice and to implement them as far as possible. Mail or phone call is all it takes! And by the way: At Nakatanenga we only use materials with 100% nylon PU coating for all textile articles. Unlike PVC, nylon PU (polyurethane) is free of harmful phthalate-based plasticisers. Until recently, low-molecular phthalates were the most common plasticisers for plastics of all kinds and are even used in food and cosmetics. However, they accumulate in the environment and are suspected of acting like endogenous hormones due to their molecular nature. This is highly questionable from a toxicological point of view and is considered to be a trigger for various diseases, including cancer. For Nakatanenga, it is therefore a matter of course to use only ecologically and health-safe alternatives such as nylon PU for the coating of textile products.

Bumper protection What’s worse than a scratch on your car? Clearly that very first scratch! How annoying is it when you spot one on a pristine new vehicle? Even when 4x4s generally wear their scars with pride, most signs of heavy usage aren’t necessary, they’re frustrating and also depreciate the value of your vehicle. One of the first areas to show signs of wear and tear – especially with off-road vehicles – is usually the cargo area. But if your 4x4 is a New Defender, would you really want to see a worn and scratched rear bumper? Immediate and long-lasting prevention of wear marks on your New Defender’s rear bumper can be achieved with our designated paint protection film. This high-performance product by industry leader 3M protects your New Defender’s rear bumper from scratches and abrasion even when your loading area is constantly in use for work or sports. And don’t forget the damage a dog’s claws can do to the paint when you carry them regularly in a dog box in the back. Due to its multi-layer structure, the 3M wrap also protects the bumper from chipping caused by the impact of small stones or dropped objects. Installing the paint protection film is really easy. Everything you need is included: cleaning cloth, adhesion promoter wipe, squeegee and detailed instructions. If you’ve never done this before: don’t worry. The protective wrap can be positioned exactly as you need it, but if you have to readjust the position a few millimeters that’s no problem either. Simply slide the film into place. It only starts to adhere once you apply pressure with the squeegee. The protective wrap is available in black, matt black, anthracite grey or silver, making it a perfect visual match for any New Defender color scheme. Door net for New Defender from MY2020 Modern car doors are primarily optimized for lateral impact protection. Small wonder that even large vehicles like the New Defender offer relatively little storage space in the door paneling. With our new storage nets for driver and passenger door of the New Landy you can pretty much double the available space of your door pockets - for all the things you want to keep within reach, in summer and winter. Upgrading the reverse lights on your car is always a good idea – better visibility for others and for yourself when you’re parking backwards, when maneuvering with and without trailer or driving off-road in the dark. Stronger reverse lights also greatly improve the performance of reverse cameras. For the New Defender, we are offering an extremely elegant solution that needs no external fittings and has the seamless appearance of standard equipment. Underneath the rear lights on both sides of L663, two recesses in the body are ideal for housing the additional reverse lights with their six white LEDs each. Mounting the LEDs in the recesses is easy. Two perfectly fitted brackets are attached inside the gaps with self-adhesive tape. Once the plinths are fitted the LEDs are simply screwed in. The wiring is plug & play and includes all the necessary connections to the existing reverse lights. Installation or de-installation (if necessary) are simple DIY projects because the rear light panels are only clipped in and can easily be removed. Since there are no drill holes or other alterations necessary, there are no permanent traces or damages on the vehicle’s exterior. The high-quality LEDs with their watertight housing and the tough polycarbonate lenses provide more safety for you. The custom-fitted design and the superior components are a real improvement for the overall appearance of the Defender’s rear. Side Box for Land Rover New Defender from BJ 2020 With off-road vehicles like the New Defender, exterior cargo space is a great idea. After all, there are many pieces of gear and equipment that need to be quickly accessible but shouldn’t be kept on the inside, because they are either too filthy or they smell of gas, Diesel or other automotive chemicals. A perfect storage place for these things is our side-mounted storage box for the New Landy’s right side.* The side-mounted storage box is made from Plastic and offers a hefty 24 l of volume. It is mounted on the standard roof rail or on our CargoBear roof rack – adapters are included. Its size and the maximum load of 17 kg allow for a huge amount of equipment that can be stored here. Inside the box, there’s a built-in storage mesh for more safety and tidiness. The carrier can be locked and is also watertight, of course. For easier cleaning, there is a plughole with a rubber stopper in the bottom. The side-mounted cargo carrier is designed for maximum aerodynamics and the reduction of wind noise. Its color black compliments every New Defender and if you want to take customization even further, depressions on the lid are the perfect spot to attach one of our Land Rover logos. CargoBear, meet the New Defender! New Defender, meet the CargoBear! Two legends are coming together for the first time: the new Land Rover Defender, arguably the most complete 4x4 off-road vehicle at present, and our tried and tested, very successful modular roof rack system CargoBear. The bear crowns every new Landy, whether it’s a 90 or a 110.
At Nakatanenga, we took our time to finetune the CargoBear for every design detail, technical specification and user requirement the Defender L663 (from MY 2020) challenged us with. At its full length of 2.41 m, our rack consists of 3 crossbars, two platform elements as well as front and rear modules. The overall width of 1.20 m gives you almost 3 square meters of fully usable cargo space. The entire surface can be loaded and walked upon – a decisive advantage over many competing products.
The CargoBear is screwed into the original mounting points of the roof rails which have to be removed, of course. Another great advantage over the competition is the fact that you can configure the CargoBear rack in two heights: At 100 mm, the glass roof – if you have one –remains fully functional. If your Defender doesn’t have a glass roof or if you prefer a lower, more streamlined profile, the rack can be mounted at only 80mm above the roof.
Whether you’re choosing the high or low mount, aerodynamics was always our main concern in the CargoBear’s development. There are no legally required speed limits when driving with the rack, but we recommend a top speed of 160 km/h when empty and 130 km/h when loaded. For the overall load capacity please refer to your owner’s manual and the specific version or configuration of your vehicle. The roof rack’s weight of up to 50 kg has to be deducted from the dynamic load capacity.
The new Defender’s overall look is perfectly complimented by the matte black powder coating of both aluminum and stainless steel elements. While the V-shaped rear module accommodates the antenna and the rear view camera and guarantees full functionality, the front element is specifically designed to easily integrate an Osram VX1000-CB or other light bars.
