Climbing aid - Door step Access to the roof of a car is usually something for climbing professionals - especially from the side. This applies to expedition-ready 4x4s with CargoBear-style system carriers that can be climbed by ladder, and especially to SUVs with ski racks or family vans with roof boxes. Often the vehicles are simply too high or the drivers too small or unathletic to get safe and easy side access to the roof load. They try to find a foothold on the seats by groping with their feet while holding on tightly with one hand to avoid tipping over backwards. Or you climb onto boxes or makeshift ladders and let the passenger support you, but who always has ladders or a passenger with them? What fits into the car in any case is our convenient and safe climbing aid for hanging into the body-side locking brackets of the door locks. The ladder replacement is hooked into the catch eye of the latch with a simple, fold-out hook. The pressure of the rubberised rear edge of the step surface on the B- or C-pillar results in an absolutely safe climbing aid under load that does not wobble or slip. This way, you can reach every side of the car roof safely and quickly without much effort. The locking brackets of the car doors have to withstand forces that are many times the weight of the human body so that the door does not open in the event of an accident or attempted break-in. The ladder itself is made of an extremely solid aluminium alloy and is designed to withstand 200 kg. This means that even large and heavy contemporaries need not worry. However, the first use should be carried out with caution and care in order to get the necessary safety when climbing. And to ensure that the paintwork is not damaged, there is an additional rubber protector that can be attached to the edge of the step. By the way, if there is no more room for the foldable door step in the glove compartment or the centre shelf, you can leave the emergency hammer at home, because it has a steel tip at the front and thus also functions as a rescue tool for breaking windows. Sense and purpose of an awning compact extension? Glare protection when the sun is low in the skyThe compact extension was developed directly from practical requirements - a nice formulation that in itself means nothing more than: "We were so annoyed and dazzled by the low sun one fine day that we wanted to remedy the situation." And already the initial question is actually fully answered. But that would only be half the truth. On the following picture you can see an awning without extension shown above: As the sun sinks (the same applies in the morning, of course - but for the sake of clarity we will limit ourselves here to the afternoon or evening situation), the light falls further and further under the awning. At a certain position of the sun, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person - from now on, the sun can dazzle until it sets. The illustration below shows an awning with a compact extension, which offers several advantages with its angled bracing: When the sun is high, a much larger area is shaded.Only when the sun is setting, the light/shadow dividing line reaches the eye level of a seated person. Here, of course, deviations are possible, since both the slope of the guy, the size of the person and his sitting position are influencing factors.But the most important thing is: You can see what's going on in your surroundings despite the glare shield! If the eyes and the lower edge of the compact extension are on a horizontal plane, then the view would extend exactly to the (ideal) horizon. If you compare that with a moderately braced complete front part, where the view is just between a few centimetres to a few steps - what a difference! What if the sun comes in from the side?Well, then the vehicle will probably have to be moved. But not with our new compact extension. All you have to do is unhinge it from the front, and you can attach it to the side in just a few easy steps. Voilà!But please note: The awnings have a uniform depth of two meters, but differ in their widths. Ideally it hit here all those who have a 200er awning. Front parts for our awnings series Evolution 2 ... are also suitable for the awnings of other manufacturers - the aluminum front profile must only be equipped with a free keder profile for this purpose or one must be retrofitted. Front parts fulfill - especially in combination with our awning side parts - various functions: They are an excellent windbreak - this is where the relatively heavy fabric (280g/m² PU-coated RipStop polycotton - our stone-grey sun sail and awning fabric) comes into play, which is characterized, among other things, by the significantly reduced fluttering noise.They are the ideal rain protection - for this purpose, our sun sail and awning fabric is metal-coated on one side (inside) and water- and dirt-repellent due to the impregnation of the other side (outside).They can be tensioned or also displayed by means of optionally available telescopic poles and thus increase the shaded area immensely. The Roof Lodge Evolution awning ... which can also be used on many roof tents from other manufacturers. The widespread term <awning> is somewhat misleading in itself, as it has always been more of a hanging tent in which you can quickly and easily store camping equipment such as a table and chairs, the little ones' toys and a pint of beer. This not only applies to tidying up in the evening, but also in the event of a downpour. What's more, the fact that these items are no longer immediately visible makes them a little safer from theft. We also like to refer to this awning simply as a <shower curtain>. This name also gives you an idea of the actual size of the hanging tents. This is always 120 cm in depth and 140 cm or 165 cm depending on the tent width. This makes them significantly larger than most showers, but still smaller than what many people imagine. However, if the roof tent is installed at a sufficient height, you have a space that can also be used comfortably for changing. These awnings were and are less suitable for use in bad weather. This results in a requirement profile for them that is completely different from that of the floor tents of the extended tents. As the awning's tent character is clearly in the background, we have given it some thought and completely redesigned it according to its use. They are now made from the same material that we already use for our LIGHTWEIGHT - T109 ripstop nylon with Oxford weave. This material is surprisingly strong for its surprisingly low weight of just 102 g/m² and is the obvious choice for use in an awning. As awnings, like ground tents, usually have to be transported in the vehicle, the pack size is not insignificant. The fact that the usual voluminous and heavy PVC groundsheet has been replaced by a thin and light tarpaulin means that the pack size of the awning can almost be described as tiny.   Due to the type of use, elaborate window constructions are as pointless as spikes for ballerinas - nobody uses them. Of course, windows do have a right to exist in hanging tents; after all, you can not only see outside through them, they also let light into the tent. But this is where the T109 ripstop nylon comes into play again: this material has good light permeability, which puts the question of windows to rest once and for all. The entrance is usually located behind the ladder, which literally stands in the way of quickly stowing away the equipment. That's why we decided not to have an entrance. Some people will now say that Nakatanenga have definitely overshot the mark. But we simply questioned the design of the usual entrances with the entrance fabric, mosquito net and zippers and found that they were not necessary. Our awning therefore doesn't have an ENTRANCE, but of course there is an ACCESS - in fact several. The awning is fitted with zippers at all 4 corners. These can be used to separate the side walls from each other and thus not only determine the access as desired. You can also roll up one or all of the side walls. In the evening, for example, all you need to do is place the table and chairs on the tarpaulin, unroll the side walls and close the zippers. And the awning also offers real added value: the side tent walls also have two eyelets on the underside. The side walls can either be tensioned at an angle or extended using optional telescopic poles. This creates a rain-protected or shaded area of just under 5.5 by 1.2 meters. The awnings are suitable for all roof tents of the appropriate size that use the edge profiles shown on the Roof Lodge Evolution and LIGHTWEIGHT information pages. If you are not quite sure, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is not possible to use the awning and shoe bag at the same time. Note: The telescopic poles are NOT included in the scope of delivery.  

Hot water - Always and everywhere At home, you have warm water coming out of your taps, just like that. That’s why armchair travelers never really appreciate what a precious commodity that is. But if you spend enough time on the road or in nature – be it in a camper van, on a boat, in a food truck or a market stall – you will know what a truly great thing water is when it flows clean and warm wherever and whenever you need it. If you already have a diesel heater installed in your vehicle, boat or trailer – by AUTOTERM or an equivalent – you can easily upgrade to a warm water system. Pundmann have designed their mobile water heaters, the 6-liter Therm 6AIR and the 9 liter Therm 9AIR, specifically for AUTOTERM diesel heaters. Accordingly, installation is completely hassle-free. If you have a 230V power outlet available, you can run the water heater with the inbuilt 500W heating element. Whenever there is no electricity nearby, simply let your Autoterm (or equivalent) do the job of heating your water. It will take 50 minutes for the smaller 6-liter tank and 60 minutes for the larger tank. Operating pressure is at 1.5 bar/21.75 psi with a security valve limiting pressure to 2.2 bar/31.9 psi. Dimensions of 200 x 228 x 360 (6 l) or 200 x 228 x 520 (9 l) mm, respectively, make the tanks small enough to fit even in tight spaces. Titanium spoon and fork sets The Titans were the giants in the pantheon of the Greeks and if you are in the great outdoors working up a giant appetite for Greek, Italian or otherwise, look no further than our spoon and fork sets made from titanium. Dutch Oven The Dutch Oven, often referred to simply as a pot (sic), is available here together with a sturdy tripod, a pot stand and, of course, a lid lifter. Although the pot itself is available in three sizes, we only offer it as a set in the two most popular sizes. Of course, the tripod, the lid lifter and the pot stand can also be used with the pound pot (coincidentally also the name of a very popular Dutch Oven dish - but here we mean our 12-quart pot). The pots are also particularly suitable for induction cookers, as well as for all other types (ceramic, open fire, etc.). Please select the desired size.A practical tip from Harry:Tried and tested for travelling: one of the two sets offered here! You can also attach one of these beautiful enamelled percolators to the tripod for making coffee. But be careful! Not all percolators are suitable for this type of coffee preparation! And... the handle can get devilishly hot! Our lid lifter doesn't really help here either. But if anyone knows of a practical way of using the Dutch oven lid lifter with a percolator, please let me knowWhere were we again? Exactly! With our DO sets... ideal for travelling, but probably a little undersized for a garden party. So in itself it's perfectly adequate for a garden party, but not for a G-A-R-T-E-N-P-A-R-T-Y!That's when you need our pound pot - and to supplement and round off the food base, you can always find a quick use for the smaller brother. And if you want to serve the much-quoted icing on the cake as a first aid against second hunger late at night: Take a piece of beef of your choice, it should be around 300-400 grams and nicely marbled, and it must be able to fit into the sizzle pan later (a flank steak is really tasty, but completely unsuitable for this), and put it in the oven set to around 55°C, but not immediately taken out of the fridge - preheating is superfluous, unless your G-A-R-T-E-N-P-A-R-T-Y is taking place in the Arctic Circle.There, in the oven, it can then remain for a long, really long time, but of course not until the end of time. So don't overdo it! And the following really does apply to this preparation: don't add salt! Garlic, thyme and/or rosemary add a familiar flavour, sage and coriander a less familiar but very interesting one. When your guests' appetite for a savoury or tasty treat reawakens, simply let the Sizzel Pan heat up in the embers and then place the meat inside. 45-60 seconds per side is usually sufficient and a knob of good butter should not be missing. Allow the meat to rest for a few more minutes, then cut into slices and serve,  then cut into slices and serve sprinkled with salt (flakes!) and freshly ground pepper. Make sure you try it: Lemon pepper!   Further information:  Our Dutch ovens can be used over an open fire, on the barbecue, on the hob and also in the kitchen oven. We have deliberately opted for pots without legs, as these can be stored in a more space-saving way and can also be used in the normal kitchen. Our pots are already baked so that you can prepare delicious food straight away.           

Muurinpohjapannu at Nakatanenga? Something unspeakable in the company with the funny name ... But actually it is quite simple (as long as you do not have to pronounce it): Muurinpohjapannu is Finnish and means nothing more than - now it comes - frying pan. In fact, "this part" can be used like a frying pan; Almost everything that can be prepared in an ordinary pan can also be sizzle on this part. Well, it does not have a handle. This should make it a little difficult if you should try his pancake in the usual way. That may also be the reason that we are talking about a pancake and not a Muurinpohjapannukuchen - what I'm glad! Maybe you should, if you want to use this part properly, but rather every thought, any association to a pan and start again from the beginning. Grill plate or fire plate - that could work better. The thing just on the three screw-on legs (something that stands on three legs, that can never wobble!). Put directly into the campfire - or just next to it, depending on what you want to prepare. Completely easily different temperature zones are created, in which the most different food can be prepared. An example? Tortillas. Fry the meat in the hot region, move to a less hot region of the plate to roast, and fry the vegetables it tolerates. Then either heat the tortilla wrap on the vegetables or grill on the plate. That’s why we are introducing our own hanging wash bag with the bear logo on it, for travel, outdoor and camping. Everything else out there hasn’t really done it for us, so we made some key improvements to the most important details and put them all in one cool roll! Advantage #1 for our Nakatanenga toiletry bag: lots of mesh! We’re using great amounts of mesh material especially in the interior zip bag area, so that the wash roll can dry off quickly after you’ve been to a tiny wet room. If your shampoo or deodorant has leaked again, you can quickly rinse the mesh in a sink or basin. The wash bags exterior is Nylon PU-coated and therefore extremely robust, easy to clean and water resistant. Advantage #2: our firm G-hook! Even brand wash bags often sport these cheap round hooks that come off with the slightest movement or push. As a result, your personal hygiene items are too often scattered on less than appealing bathroom floors. Our G-hook closes the rolled-up wash bag tightly and you can also use it to hang the bag securely in windy or cramped places.
