When it comes to powerful performance, our very own CargoBear is definitely the Grizzly among roof racks. Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably.  The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s center of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation. The long G-Class will finally get a CargoBear with four crossbars and we are also working on a model for the new Defender. So, bear with us, we will release real results when we have them and not CGI renders like some of our competition. And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications. Measured from the gutter, the CargoBear is approx. 20cm high. On the roof it is approx. 5-6 cm - depending on the roof, condition, year of construction etc.

CargoBear Abschlussträger Defender Schön und handlich, dieses CargoBear-Abschlussblech für den Defender. Schön, weil es beim ohnehin schon äußerst attraktiven Schwarzbären noch das designmäßige i-Tüpfelchen aufsetzt. Vor allem beim kurzen Landy, mit der Dachträgerkonfiguration von drei Querbügeln und zwei Lochbrettflächen, runden Windschott und Endblech die Optik auf beiden Seiten perfekt ab und ergeben vor allem auch die ideale Dachträger-Länge für den Wagen. Und dann ist das Abschlussblech wie gesagt auch noch sehr handlich, weil wir auf beiden Seiten einen Handgriff integriert haben, der das Erklimmen des Dachgeschosses deutlich einfacher und sicherer macht. Daneben verlängert das Endmodul die nutzbare Ladefläche nochmal um 9 cm und bietet zusätzlichen Platz zum Anbringen von Arbeits-LEDs, Befestigungen, Zurrpunkten und Ähnlichem. Vor allem aber kann es durch den Überstand die hintere Dachkante beim Be- und Abladen des Bären schützen - je nach CargoBear-Konfiguration und Fahrzeug. Wie immer in unserem modularen CargoBear-System handelt es sich beim Material um eine schwarze, pulverbeschichtete Aluminium-Magnesium-Legierung mit rutschhemmender Lochblechstruktur. Das Abschlussblech wird mit allem notwendigen Befestigungsmaterial geliefert. How do you improve the CargoBear? By clicking our rubber covers into fully or partially unused lashing openings in the rack. With our 30 mm wide and 10 cm long strips, you can quickly and securely seal the gaps. The rubber covers give you a whole range of noticeable advantages. Firstly, they improve load safety on the already very slip resistant CargoBear even further. When you position the cargo on top of the rubber strips, the ribbed surface structure prevents the lashed down cargo from sliding. A second effect is created by the rubbers’ added height of 3.5 mm, which lifts the cargo off the actual rack, preventing scratching or damages to both. And last but not least, the covers also prevent vegetation from getting trapped or stuck in the sideways rails when off-roading. The covers sport rounded edges for a better fit. The rubber cover strips for the CargoBear can be ordered in sets of 6 or 24 respectively. One crossbar requires a set of 6 for Defender, Jimny or G-Class. A set of 24 covers one cargo panel with the above-mentioned 4x4s, i.e. the minimum configuration of 2 cross bars and one panel requires 2 sets of 6 and one set of 24. Few systems for securing cargo are simultaneously as flexible, robust and safe. If you ever had to tie down large, unwieldy or sensitive objects in your cargo hold or on the roof rack, you’ll know what we mean. So how do you actually improve lashing rails? By clicking rubber covers by Trekfinder into unused tracks. A simple, fast and secure solution. The rubber strips add little height with 3.5 mm and prevent dirt and dust from clogging fully or partially unused rails. This is particularly important in cargo holds or on open trailers, because dirt clogged rails make it harder to attach fittings and studs. The same goes for winter weather when snow and ice can render exposed rails next to useless. The rubber strips feature a ribbed surface to improve load safety. Loads that are positioned on top of the rubbers won’t slip or slide as easily. On roof racks, wind noises are being reduced and if you have mounted airline rails sideways on the rack or the vehicle itself, the rubbers prevent vegetation from getting trapped when off-roading. But wait: how much of it can you actually use? Only rarely will you load big items in one piece – let’s say a fridge for example – into the cargo space of the little 4x4 and that’s the problem. The Jimny is mostly a specialized working vehicle for farmers, forest workers and hunters. That means, there’s always lots of tools, fuels, lubricants, equipment, feed bags and dirty clothes that you don’t want to pile up on the small surface area of the cargo hold. Add animals – dead and alive – to the mix and you get the picture.Once we’ve spotted this particular problem, we immediately set to work on it and are now offering a mini-version of our CargoBear system specifically for the back of the Jimny GJ/HJ. This rack effectively partitions the narrow but high cargo space and lets you load many more items much more effectively.
