The Roof Lodge Evolution awning...
which can also be used with many roof tents from other manufacturers.
- They are now made from the same material that we use for our LIGHTWEIGHT – T109 ripstop nylon with Oxford weave. This material, which is surprisingly strong for its astonishingly low weight of just 102 g/m², is ideal for use in an awning. Since awnings, like ground tents, usually have to be transported in a vehicle, the pack size is an important consideration. The fact that the usual bulky and heavy PVC groundsheet has been replaced by a thin and lightweight groundsheet means that the pack size of the awning is almost negligible.
- Due to the nature of their use, elaborate window constructions are as pointless as spikes for ballerinas – no one uses them. Of course, windows do have a raison d'être in hanging tents; after all, they not only allow you to see outside, they also let light into the tent. But this is where the T109 ripstop nylon comes into play again: this material has good light transmission, which finally settles the question of windows.
- Usually, the entrance is located behind the ladder, which literally gets in the way when quickly stowing away equipment. That is why we decided not to have an entrance. Some people will now say that Nakatanenga has finally gone too far. But we simply questioned the design of conventional entrances with entrance fabric, mosquito nets and zips and decided that they were unnecessary. Our awning therefore has no entrance, but of course it does have access points – several, in fact. The awning is equipped with zips at all four corners. These allow the side walls to be separated from each other, which not only allows you to determine the access point as you wish, but also to roll up one or all of the side walls. In the evening, for example, all you need to do is place the table and chairs on the tarpaulin, roll up the side walls and close the zips.
- The awning also offers real added value: the side walls of the tent have two additional eyelets on the underside. These can be used to either brace the side walls diagonally or extend them using optional telescopic poles. This creates a rain-protected or shaded area measuring almost 5.5 by 1.2 metres.
The awnings are suitable for all roof tents of the appropriate size that use the edge profiles shown on the Roof Lodge Evolution or LIGHTWEIGHT information pages. If you are not entirely sure, please do not hesitate to contact us.
It is not possible to use the awning and shoe bag at the same time.
Please note: The telescopic poles are NOT included in the scope of delivery.

Side panel for Nakatanenga Evolution2 Awning Roof-mounted car awnings like our EVO II are a great pieces of equipment if you want to turn your 4x4 or van into a quickly set up mobile camp. But proper protection from wind, weather, sun and unwanted attention comes only with the addition of side walls. Conditions vary from location to location and even throughout a single day: the sun is moving from east to west and the wind is changing directions, too. By the sea, it becomes a lot stronger in the evenings and carries dust, sand and the occasional shower. But aside from weather protection, the side tarps also create valuable privacy in crowded camp grounds and other popular locations. Our side walls come in pairs and are the best solution for all these challenges. Simply stick the velcro fasteners to the roof awning’s frame and fasten the tarps to the ground using the four included tent pegs. All of that is simply a question of minutes and if the wind, the sun or a new location demand a change in position you can easily swap the sidewalls to accommodate the situation. The two side wall tarps are made from high quality PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blended fabric containing 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This highly functional material is extremely resistant to tearing, it is water and dirt repellent and due to its high specific weight of 280 g/ m2 the material will make less noise in the wind. The tarp’s inner side features a layer of aluminum to assist in regulating temperature and to diffuse and amplify low intensity light sources like candles, camping lanterns etc. Color:Stone gray. Organisation on two levels - the tiered table for on the go Especially in difficult terrain, when off-roading, camping or on expedition, a solid, clean and flat surface can make all the difference, whether it’s for cooking and eating, doing repairs or simply to spread maps and GPS gadgets to navigate properly. Moreover, our foldable side table offers not only one but two surfaces, like a small shelf. While you’re running a gas stove on top, for example, you can use the lower shelf to prepare your food items, away from dust and dirt. The double table is robust, portable and folds away nicely. When you need it you simply attach it to the stainless steel fittings included in the kit. Removal is just as easy. The fittings can be mounted on the side of your vehicle or the rear door. If you want to keep the folding table permanently attached, use the two screws we’ve included in the kit specifically for that purpose. When driving, the table is simply folded up. The metal structure’s powder coated surface is highly resistant to scratches, abrasion and also to heat. While cooking, you can put warm pots and pans directly onto the table (Attention! Do not put boiling hot pots on the table, this can damage the coating). Additionally, the front edge of the lower shelf is bent upwards so that nothing can fall out when your vehicle is slightly tilted on uneven ground. Spice Up Your Life – with our Tool Roll Spice 2! Who remembers the olden days when all you got around the campfire was skewered hot dogs and marshmallow s’mores? Well, those days are gone and good riddance. Today’s campers, be they male or female, working a BBQ grill or a Dutch oven, would be completely lost without a pinch of hand-plucked tarragon for the chicken, argentine dry-rub on the steak or oak-smoked Pimentón de la Vera in a vegan chilli. As we said before, who wants to go back to hot dogs and s’mores? So what’s different from our original Tool Roll Spice? The brand-new Spice 2 measures 45 x 30 cm when opened and offers not only space for 7 included spice and herb containers but also safe, clean and practical storage for other essential cooking utensils. Two mesh-pockets will stow your cutlery, knives, garlic press, condiment tubes and much more. Other than that, our hot roll is just as easily rolled up, unrolled, carried or hung from a hook as its predecessor. The sturdy and easy-to-clean materials, the hand-sewn seams and the strong nylon straps with the snap-lock buckles take care of that. The Spice 2’s airy mesh pockets are opened and closed by YKK quality zippers. They can take spills and leakages and are as easily washed as they are quick to dry. Dutch Oven The Dutch Oven, often referred to simply as a pot (sic), is available here together with a sturdy tripod, a pot stand and, of course, a lid lifter. Although the pot itself is available in three sizes, we only offer it as a set in the two most popular sizes. Of course, the tripod, the lid lifter and the pot stand can also be used with the pound pot (coincidentally also the name of a very popular Dutch Oven dish - but here we mean our 12-quart pot). The pots are also particularly suitable for induction cookers, as well as for all other types (ceramic, open fire, etc.). Please select the desired size.A practical tip from Harry:Tried and tested for travelling: one of the two sets offered here! You can also attach one of these beautiful enamelled percolators to the tripod for making coffee. But be careful! Not all percolators are suitable for this type of coffee preparation! And... the handle can get devilishly hot! Our lid lifter doesn't really help here either. But if anyone knows of a practical way of using the Dutch oven lid lifter with a percolator, please let me knowWhere were we again? Exactly! With our DO sets... ideal for travelling, but probably a little undersized for a garden party. So in itself it's perfectly adequate for a garden party, but not for a G-A-R-T-E-N-P-A-R-T-Y!That's when you need our pound pot - and to supplement and round off the food base, you can always find a quick use for the smaller brother. And if you want to serve the much-quoted icing on the cake as a first aid against second hunger late at night: Take a piece of beef of your choice, it should be around 300-400 grams and nicely marbled, and it must be able to fit into the sizzle pan later (a flank steak is really tasty, but completely unsuitable for this), and put it in the oven set to around 55°C, but not immediately taken out of the fridge - preheating is superfluous, unless your G-A-R-T-E-N-P-A-R-T-Y is taking place in the Arctic Circle. There, in the oven, it can then remain for a long, really long time, but of course not until the end of time. So don't overdo it! And the following really does apply to this preparation: don't add salt! Garlic, thyme and/or rosemary add a familiar flavour, sage and coriander a less familiar but very interesting one. When your guests' appetite for a savoury or tasty treat reawakens, simply let the Sizzel Pan heat up in the embers and then place the meat inside. 45-60 seconds per side is usually sufficient and a knob of good butter should not be missing. Allow the meat to rest for a few more minutes, then cut into slices and serve, then cut into slices and serve sprinkled with salt (flakes!) and freshly ground pepper. Make sure you try it: Lemon pepper! Further information: Our Dutch ovens can be used over an open fire, on the barbecue, on the hob and also in the kitchen oven. We have deliberately opted for pots without legs, as these can be stored in a more space-saving way and can also be used in the normal kitchen. Our pots are already baked so that you can prepare delicious food straight away.
