Nakatanenga CargoBear 2.0 | Lightweight. Strong. Clever for Mercedes G When it comes to powerful performance, our very own CargoBear is definitely the Grizzly among roof racks. Strong, sturdy and massively versatile, it was way ahead of its time when we introduced it in 2016. But the world is turning, evolution doesn’t favor a standstill and if you want to survive in nature, you need to keep innovating. Leaner and meaner is this new bear, the CargoBear 2.0, when he emerges from his winter den in Berg. Same load bearing strength, same solidity, same rigidity, but greatly reduced fight weight: Your 4x4 has to carry around 30 % less weight on the roof. And on top of it, the new CargoBear comes with a reduced price tag as well. How did we do it? The crucial difference lies in a new construction design. Removing the comparatively heavy longitudinal connecting beams, their structural function has been taken over by newly developed perforated HIGRIP plates between the crossbars and angled end-plates for the sides. The new design achieves (nearly) the same structural strength as its predecessor but reduces the net weight considerably.  The CargoBear 2.0 has been designed for a load capacity of 300 kg off-road (with evenly distributed load). This can easily be doubled on the road. Theoretically, that is, because it’s important to make two points when it comes to roof racks. One, keep in mind that your vehicle’s center of gravity can shift upwards considerably when carrying a roof rack with cargo, especially off-road. And two, when loading your roof rack, the limitations will most likely result from your vehicles approved roof load which in most cases will be significantly below the specifications of the rack itself. Some of the CargoBear 2.0’s features stay the same, however, because we found them hard to improve: this includes the jet-black, super-flat look, the high-performance material and the modular versatility. Furthermore, all accessories, additional components, roof tents etc. are fully compatible with the first generation. The long G-Class will finally get a CargoBear with four crossbars.  And last but not least, the old heavier CargoBear with longitudinal beams and checker plate will be continued exclusively for classic Defenders who need specific heavy-duty applications.The CargoBear does NOT fit the Mercedes G model W465 from model year 2024! Measured from the gutter, the CargoBear is approx. 20cm high. More grip, less risk - rubber cover profiles for the Nakatanenga CargoBear How do you improve the CargoBear? By clicking our rubber covers into fully or partially unused lashing openings in the rack. With our 30 mm wide and 10 cm long strips, you can quickly and securely seal the gaps. The rubber covers give you a whole range of noticeable advantages. Firstly, they improve load safety on the already very slip resistant CargoBear even further. When you position the cargo on top of the rubber strips, the ribbed surface structure prevents the lashed down cargo from sliding. A second effect is created by the rubbers’ added height of 3.5 mm, which lifts the cargo off the actual rack, preventing scratching or damages to both. And last but not least, the covers also prevent vegetation from getting trapped or stuck in the sideways rails when off-roading. The covers sport rounded edges for a better fit. The rubber cover strips for the CargoBear can be ordered in sets of 6 or 24 respectively. One crossbar requires a set of 6 for Defender, Jimny or G-Class. A set of 24 covers one cargo panel with the above-mentioned 4x4s, i.e. the minimum configuration of 2 cross bars and one panel requires 2 sets of 6 and one set of 24. Few systems for securing cargo are simultaneously as flexible, robust and safe. If you ever had to tie down large, unwieldy or sensitive objects in your cargo hold or on the roof rack, you’ll know what we mean. So how do you actually improve lashing rails? By clicking rubber covers by Trekfinder into unused tracks. A simple, fast and secure solution. The rubber strips add little height with 3.5 mm and prevent dirt and dust from clogging fully or partially unused rails. This is particularly important in cargo holds or on open trailers, because dirt clogged rails make it harder to attach fittings and studs. The same goes for winter weather when snow and ice can render exposed rails next to useless. The rubber strips feature a ribbed surface to improve load safety. Loads that are positioned on top of the rubbers won’t slip or slide as easily. On roof racks, wind noises are being reduced and if you have mounted airline rails sideways on the rack or the vehicle itself, the rubbers prevent vegetation from getting trapped when off-roading. Climbing aid - Door step Access to the roof of a car is usually something for climbing professionals - especially from the side. This applies to expedition-ready 4x4s with CargoBear-style system carriers that can be climbed by ladder, and especially to SUVs with ski racks or family vans with roof boxes. Often the vehicles are simply too high or the drivers too small or unathletic to get safe and easy side access to the roof load. They try to find a foothold on the seats by groping with their feet while holding on tightly with one hand to avoid tipping over backwards. Or you climb onto boxes or makeshift ladders and let the passenger support you, but who always has ladders or a passenger with them? What fits into the car in any case is our convenient and safe climbing aid for hanging into the body-side locking brackets of the door locks. The ladder replacement is hooked into the catch eye of the latch with a simple, fold-out hook. The pressure of the rubberised rear edge of the step surface on the B- or C-pillar results in an absolutely safe climbing aid under load that does not wobble or slip. This way, you can reach every side of the car roof safely and quickly without much effort. The locking brackets of the car doors have to withstand forces that are many times the weight of the human body so that the door does not open in the event of an accident or attempted break-in. The ladder itself is made of an extremely solid aluminium alloy and is designed to withstand 200 kg. This means that even large and heavy contemporaries need not worry. However, the first use should be carried out with caution and care in order to get the necessary safety when climbing. And to ensure that the paintwork is not damaged, there is an additional rubber protector that can be attached to the edge of the step. By the way, if there is no more room for the foldable door step in the glove compartment or the centre shelf, you can leave the emergency hammer at home, because it has a steel tip at the front and thus also functions as a rescue tool for breaking windows. Aluminum cases Pro There are many aluminum cases, but just one “Alubox”. The Wiberg family’s business on Zealand in Denmark has been supplying the Danish military, various rescue services, international expeditions and the off-road community since 1999 with tough, handmade transport cases made from aluminum alloy AW-5754. As you would expect from real Vikings, Danish Aluboxes are seawater resistant. In addition, they can be padlocked, are dust-proof and highly resistant to corrosion and chemicals. The Wibergs’ experience and their commitment to continuously improve the Aluboxes show in the details: extra-robust and impact-proof stacking corners provide tight connections when you put several boxes on top of each other. Spring handles retract, so they’re never sticking out as dangerous obstacles‚ causing damages or injuries. The new transport box for the 30-second touring tents by OZtents was developed by Soren Wiberg, who is a big fan of Land Rovers and camping. That’s why he saw right away that the somewhat flimsy OZtent carry bag needs to be improved upon. With packing dimensions of roughly 2 m, OZtents are usually too long to be stowed inside smaller 4x4s. The new Alubox measures 2130 x 510 x 220 mm, making it the ideal storage space for OZtent models RV1, RV2, RV3, RV4 und RV5. A kingdom for a shower, in the middle of nowhere! No worries, we’ve been on the case and this is what we‘ve come up with: A mounted shower unit for overlanders, campers and adventurers. Nakatanenga shower tubes are attached to the side of a CargoBear or any other roof rack. You fill it with the amount of water you need, pressurize the tank with air to guarantee consistent water flow and off you go. During the day, the tube’s black PE material provides free solar off-grid heating for the water, no energy input required, no CO2 emissions. Isn’t that just great at the end of a tough day? The shower tubes come in three sizes – 1,240, 2,100 und 2,750 mm – respectively giving you volumes of 9.4, 17.5 and 23.7 l. We deliver the tubes with CargoBear mounting brackets, tap, handheld shower head and spiral hose pipe. You can attach your own accessories to the ½” connector, of course.
