The mattress base

Technically, these underlays are a so-called spacer fabric, a knitted fabric extended by the 3rd dimension. Originally used in boat interiors, medical mattresses, for example, are almost unthinkable today without a layer of this material. In addition, these spacer knitted mats are not only mats that improve the sleeping climate, but they also improve lying comfort, especially with thinner mattresses. Retrofitted in tents with a wood or aluminum floor, which have higher thermal conductivity than our honeycomb floor, these mats help reduce the condensation that occurs between the mattress and the floor during nighttime cooling. However, with the reclining components (floor - mat - mattress) of the Roof Lodge tents, they are an essential part of the coordinated overall concept and significantly increase the reclining comfort.

  • Condensation: also known as condensation or condensation water). Why does condensation occur on cold surfaces?
    That which is called heat is nothing more than the mean velocity of moving particles. The "mean" in the previous sentence is of great importance, since it summarizes that there are always particles moving faster (thus being warmer) and those moving less fast (thus being colder). If particles now meet a cold surface, they transfer a part of their energy to this surface, whereby they cool down. In the case of a particle that is already cool, this transfer can lower the particle's speed of motion (its temperature) to the point where the particle changes from the vapor phase to the liquid phase - it condenses.

  1. The probability of condensation becomes greater the lower the temperature. This applies both to the air temperature and to the temperature of the surface on which condensation occurs.
  2. The amount of condensate formed depends, among other things, on the amount of water vapor contained in the air.

 

Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine orthopedic mattresses without spacer fabrics.
