Zippers I
For the protective hood (the transport protection of the roof tent) and for the ground tent of the Extended models, we use a zipper from the market leader YKK. These cramp zippers are significantly less sensitive to dirt than spiral zippers, but also significantly stiffer (see Zippers II). To exclude corrosion, which would inevitably occur with metal cramps, we use only plastic zippers.
TIP: Any zipper used in outdoor applications should be cleaned regularly and maintained with silicone oil.
Excessive use of force when opening and closing a zipper will damage or destroy it!
Zippers II and Zipper Puller
For the window covers, mosquito nets and entrances, YKK zippers are also used. Since the load on these zippers is lower, but they are used more often, we do not use a staple at these points, but the much more flexible spiral zippers.
All zippers of our Evolution II roof tents are equipped with zipper pullers. These zipper pullers not only make it easier to find the sliders even at night, but they can also be easily gripped with gloved fingers, even with gloves.
TIP: Get into the habit of always sliding the zippers of the windows and mosquito nets to the same place - so you can find them even in the dark!
The spring steel rods
The spring steel rods, with which the sun awning is stretched, receive small cover caps from us. This prevents both injuries, but also that the cut edge pulls threads from the clothing or from carelessness the vehicle is scratched. The pop-out rods themselves are very stable on the one hand, but also elastic on the other. If they are not bent beyond their elastic limit, they return to their original shape.
TIP: If one of the rods has changed its shape over time, simply insert it into the hole provided and push it in the opposite direction.
Of course, the corners of the awning, where the eyelets are hammered, are reinforced on the underside.
